Stafford gone to rams

Shelton, Trufant and Williams are free agents in 2022 anyway. Just cut their ass now cap space. Dead money better than having their full cap hit. Cap 101 for the future

Also you can roll over cap space

19 million or 24 million to 42 million is possible range starting point after the cuts.

At 19 or 24 could still add a free agent or 2 to help for 2021. But really should wait for 2022 and 2023 for free agent adds. Draft picks added no matter the cap space

If we got rid of all those players mentioned already, plus Collins and Flowers, we could be looking at over 80mil in cap space in 2022 even with Goff. Now obviously that would go down if we sign any big FA or re-sign Golladay this year, but to me thats exciting to think about.

Why are people so in love with this QB draft class? Am I the only one that thinks Lawrence is the only one worth a 1st round pick?

Ideally the Lions should be working on the defense more than taking a QB. With or without Goff. Not sure having a young rook with a bad defense and suspect offense is the way to go.

If we stand pat at #7 is there a defensive player even worthy of that pick right now? Parsons maybe, but he sat out last year, and has some off-field stuff. I like him and wouldn't be mad, but the value could be at WR which we obviously need too.

Not sure. But in my experience WR aren't worth a 7. Sure they can be great. But you can get good WR later. Even when we drafted Calvin, him and Matt still had bad teams because of the defense. And no depth. When will we ever focus on the defense.

Here's a scenario LA plays TB next season and Suh steps on Matt's neck.

you guys htink im a whiny little bitch now....just wait til we pick Devonta Smith at 7 lmao.

When I look at value, I look at contracts. Seems like elite WRs have the same or close to as DE?s and much higher than LBs. Id be ok w WR at #7.

Hockenson as a top 10 pick was a joke.

It goes this way every QB class, the media loves talking about QBs. I agree, and although he's the obvious #1 pick, I'm actually not sold on Lawrence being a can't miss Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck type of talent out of college.

Those unique talents are the best QBs in the NFL right now, guys who maybe don't check off all the boxes of your prototype anymore. Teams passed on Patrick Mahomes. Russell Wilson too. Dak Prescott as well. It's not easy. I mean, there were really smart guys with good track records that looked at Pat Mahomes and Deshaun Watson and said to themselves, "Definitely not as good of QB prospects as Mitch Trubisky." People thought Sam Darnold was better than Josh Allen.

It's not easy.

Its not about value it's about the 32nd rated defense. And you can get elite WR later. Lots of current elite WR are drafted late 1st, 2nd round or later. You could draft Calvin 2.0 and Detroit won't be better now or later.

Just to clarify i dont mind a WR at 7. im just not high on Devonta Smith. Chase falls to 7 i wouldnt mind the pick.

Leaves a glaring hole at LB. Devonta Smith and Waddle shouldnt be picked before pick 15 imo. As far as value goes if you can get a guy like Terrance Marshall in rd 2 i think he can produce just as much as Devonta Smith can in year 1. Trade down and get a Zaven COllins and a Terrance Marshall....now were talking value :D

I get that about wanting to improve this defense. I?m w that and would support a defensive player at #7, if the value/talent is there. We have so many holes to fill, I want best payer available based on value. Our last two top 10 picks were used to fill positions and it?s looking horrible. We need franchise players to build around on both sides of the ball.

People always bring up that you can find ?insert position? later in the draft. It?s the same for every position. You?ll have early round busts and you?ll have elite talent late. Obviously the odds decrease on elite talent the higher the pick.

It's not looking horrible because of positions we might have needed and we drafted but the fact we drafted a TE (which is hardly a position of need) and a CB who generally struggle year 1. Our front 7 has been horrible for years. It's time to fix it. Because we need multiple drafts at least. Get your WR in free agency.

All I can tell you Hughes...In Holmes we trust! Give the guy a chance to Build Back Better!!

So you don?t want to pay Kenny G market value, don?t want to consider a WR at #7...Good luck finding a #1 WR for $5-$10mil a year in free agency.

We have so many holes and very few resources to use. We can go almost any direction at #7 and I would understand. WR, QB, DE, DT, LB, CB, OL, trade back, I would understand every decision right now.

trade back should be the #1 goal/option.
