I didn't think it looked too bad. Opportunity for a 6-2 start going into the bye. All the "tougher" out of division games are on the road giving us a better chance to win those home games vs "weaker" opponents.

Could be a good year.

You honestly think they got worse?
Don't know. Just my standard 7 win season. Until I see back to back improvements I'm not confident we're playoff bound. We added players but pro bowlers or all pro's? Its easy to improve the D some, they were terrible.

But they werent terrible once healthyish the last 10 games
Added 3 good cbs
Added two talented rookies
Walker and Charles Harris are health adds

5 of 17 games against top 10 offenses. 2 is minnesota who we can beat and also can beat seattle. At dallas and at kc are much tougher because kc is number 1 and dallas has a great d

Vegas, chargers and green bay and atlanta is 5 more for top 15 offenses. 4 of 5 of those games have a new qb though

Lions D can be average, abover average or even top 10 with this talent. Match that with a top 5 lions offense and lions are going to win double digit

Soooooo....some early ESPN super bowl predictions

Bowen: Philadelphia Eagles over Cincinnati Bengals.

Fowler: Buffalo Bills over Dallas Cowboys.

Graziano: Cincinnati Bengals over San Francisco 49ers.

Moody: Kansas City Chiefs over San Francisco 49ers.

Tannenbaum: Los Angeles Chargers over Detroit Lions. The Chargers will win the AFC West, then take a couple of home playoff games. And I could see the Lions upsetting the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game to make it to the Super Bowl. There, the Chargers will beat the Jared Goff-led Lions in a low-scoring matchup.

Things can change one year to the next. Just not sold on them.

Nobody in the history of this league has ever been cut or traded for cap reasons, Hughes. Idiot.

The cap is fake. It's a government conspiracy.

Everyone knows that.

I?ve always said, bad teams use salary cap as an excuse. Good teams, they find a way.

We the Lions, have never been a good team. Therefor, you and the majority of this fan base use the salary cap as an excuse for not bringing in star players/talent.

The real reason?Nobody has wanted to come to Detroit!

7-10 and we?ll hear every excuse in the world. It?s easy to exceed expectations when you don?t have none, it?s a lot different to meet expectations when you have them.

Follow the logic

If you are a bad team
You have to overpay to bring in FAs
If you don't have the money to overpay, you can't bring in FAs.

So salary cap can be a reason you don't add big time FAs. Also it could just be a philsophy for the current GM to really build through the draft and just be smart in FA. Like Holmes does

And sometimes signing big FAs one year, effects other years. Like when Lions added Flowers, Vaitai, Jessie James, Jamie Collins, Trufant and Justin Coleman to huge contracts it affected 2021 and 2022. It wasn't like the Lions didn't spend. Who they spent on failed. Also the Stafford trade caused alot of dead cap in 2021.

Lions have fixed things are in much better cap shape now. Got to be smart with re-signs and who they sign
