The sensor technology is definitely a threat if the Chinese and Russians reverse engineer it. That is why it should have been destroyed. Not doing so was irresponsible.

He acted as part of a U.N. and NATO coalition, he didn't declare war, or need to ask congress to declare war.

Of course the military wanted to go blow it up, but how much backlash would we have had if it started off a war, with Iran attacking Israel or other gulf-states in retaliation.

The absolute dumbest thing we could have done would have been to retake or destroy the drone by military force.
