UN isn't sovereign over the US numnuts........UN can pass all the shit they want.

Then stop trying to make it sound like Obama just went in there on his own numbnuts.

He acted as part of a U.N. and NATO coalition, he didn't declare war, or need to ask congress to declare war.

He did go in on his own.....no one else in the US authorized it.

Iran has two spy satellites in orbit right now, so my guess would be ... us.

You actually think they are going to build a drone from our technology that can fly over the u.s. without being destroyed? This downed drone poses no threat to us.

Straw, meet man. Or cinder block, meet beehive. Take your pick.

WE did not go into Libya. Nobody went into Libya from the U.S. Nobody declared war.

He does not get it, or just refuses to acknowledge that the President, Commander-in-Chief of all U.S. military forces, can order what he did WITHOUT needing approval from congress.

He's confusing a declaration of war with committing U.S. resources to U.N. and NATO operations.

But had it been a republican president, he'd be ok with it.

your telling me we didnt invade Lybian air space?

Still was not a Declaration of War so the approval of Congress was not required.

We invaded Iranian airspace with the drone, and you supported violating it again by using airstrikes or cruise missiles to destroy the wreckage.

You sure do like to straddle the fence when it suits you.

When it involves vital interests....you betcha......Lybia? what vital interest did we have?

When you use military force against a country for 7 months.....what was it, a game?

The interest that says we wont allow a Dictator to use his military to crush opposition and murder his own people......wait, was that not one of the reasons given by the Bush Administration in an attempt to justify the invasion of Iraq after no WMD's were found?

I await your retort, fence-sitter.

The military offered three options to Obama to destroy or recover it. He declined and allowed the Iranians to gain possession of it.

Of course the military wanted to go blow it up, but how much backlash would we have had if it started off a war, with Iran attacking Israel or other gulf-states in retaliation.

The absolute dumbest thing we could have done would have been to retake or destroy the drone by military force.

There appears to already be covert military action taking place in Iran.

The sensor technology is definitely a threat if the Chinese and Russians reverse engineer it. That is why it should have been destroyed. Not doing so was irresponsible.

Much more responsible to risk an armed conflict over what has been stated as not our top technology.

See my previous post.

For a short term op (ex: Grenada), Congressional approval is not necessary. However, the Libya campaign is in a grey area because of its length. He should have sought a use of force authorization.

another dumb fuck weighs in....I thought you conservatives bashed him for leading from behind ?

US Presidents have gone around Congress for years with the War Powers Act.

He can do as he pleases...don't like it..try impeachment...Ron Paul has several times and looked like a fool for doing so.

Covert being the operative word.

Not really the same as airstrikes.

I see tsmith has a lil' buddy to sit on the fence with.

How does one determine the length of an OP beforehand, and when is the point of time in which it's no longer considered short term?

Longer than what Reagan did, but shorter than what Obama does, gotcha.

If youre crucifying Obama for Lybia...then George bush should be stoned in the middle of an iraqi square for war crimes since he started a 10 year war and killed a ton of people over weapons that werent there.

That is the question. How long does a president have? Congress was willing to give him an authorization, but he declined.
