Padres @ Tigers Game #98 July 26, 2022

Dumb ass Soto implosion continues another HBP. Losing 4-3 basses still loaded. My guess is when he leaves Detroit he will be lights out for the new club if he gets traded.

Al Avila took over August 4th 2015. Tigers Had one guy that year hit 38 homers JD Martinez. In 2016 Al?s first season as Gm he had miggy 38 and Justin Upton 31. Since then the tigers have not had a batter hit over 30 dingers. The organization cannot evaluate hitters at all. Nice to hear today that a second rebuild is necessary now.

Baez was true to form in that last at bat, swinging at one borderline pitch and two balls, then watching a strike go right by him. If Soto had pitched to a third hitter in the All Star game, I think there is a good chance that he would have hit them. This game was finished off by the two wild cards on the team.

Castro swings at first pitch in yet another typical Tiger at bat lol.

Tigers waste a late inning comeback because Beaz can?t get a clutch two out hit and Soto shits his pants in his 2nd inning of work.
Or would the inning have been over if Baez just made the play ?

Back to normal tigers lose again.

Hey Ron?..

the last bit in that article on trading Skubal says it all.

The message fans should take from this is that that rebuild has officially failed. Skubal still likely won?t get moved before the deadline, but the fact that they?re shopping him around is such a disgrace.

How does Avila still have a job?

Exciting ! Lol. Guess we have to many injuries.

Daniel Norris will report to Toledo and build up as a starter, his role with Tigers from 2015 to 2019.
Tigers have signed Daniel Norris to a minor-league contract.

Greene had a great At bat against the lefty in the 9th. 0-2 count. Yeah it was a hanger on the third pitch. Then the Veteran comes up Baez with a shot at a walk off and his at bat was freaking Putrid. Then he had the fielding muff in the top of the tenth to cost a run at least.

I see Jackson Jobe the Tigers 1st round draft in 2021 is getting shelled in lakeland.
4.93 era in 14 starts. 48 k and 19 bb.

Padres 6 - Tigers 4: Detroit falls in extras after tying it up in ninth.
Leaving Gregory Soto in for the tenth was bold and it didn?t pay off.

"The idea that Al Avila, who has built a shit mountain of a roster now in year 6 or 7 of a rebuild, would be allowed to be in charge over trading the few valuable pieces the Tigers have is terrifying to Tigers fans.
It's nothing short of terrifying."

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.

Today, another opportunity for readers to discuss the hottest topics in a forum where thoughtful dialog and a variety of opinions are welcomed.

Let?s create some running conversational threads. And for those of you still going into offices, here?s a question to take with you ? or use via Zoom ? as you talk to your co-workers.

Here is today?s topic:

The Detroit Tigers are having a worse season than last year and are flirting with returning to another 100 loss season after finishing in third place with a .475 WL% in 2021. All of this despite both Chris Ilitch and Al Avila saying the ?rebuild is over.?

Ilitch spent over $243 million on free agents alone this year, none of whom have much of an impact. And over half of the roster is underperforming.
The team is on a pace to set a historical Tigers record ? as well as MLB ? for fewest runs ever scored.

But the Tigers have been saddled with many injuries this year, especially to the starting rotation which lost all but one of their Opening Day pitchers.

This year also saw the emergence of some highly-touted rookies acquired from the years of tanking. All but one are either injured or have been sent back to Toledo.

From what you see this year, what do you think of the Tigers? current rebuild?

Is it going as you expected with a slight detour?

Has the progress been derailed for the year due to situations beyond their control, such as injuries?
Or is this a sign that the rebuild is not working as planned?
What do you think?

What do you think about the Tigers' rebuild?

1. Results mostly due to circumstances beyond their control.

2. Results mostly due to failed strategy and moves.

I certainly wouldn't put most of the blame on either choice. I think the end result is due to both.

It?s all on Al and the staff and organization he has put together since 2015. Every Tiger that has been in management 10+ years or more needs to be sent packing.

Hire Theo Epstein and clean house top to bottom.

that's what I said in another post. I think the highest paid GM in baseball is Cashman and he is paid $3M per year. Offer Epstein $5M per year...he might not be able to turn that amount down.
