Pest control?

what's whimsical about not hating michigan? This sounds like the argument from the espn boards that said if you don't think MD is a great coach and recruiter then you're not a real fan and you don't know what you're talking about. Anyone who would rather see a dirty football factory like osu or a failed football factory and faux B1G team like psu or nebraska do better than michigan just because michigan gets more attention in-state and nationally is the careless, whimsical, jealous "little brother" fan who doesn't get it. If michigan loses 4 or 5 games, it's meaningless (certainly less meaningful) if we were one of the teams to beat them. In that scenario, they have probably lost to at least 2 teams worse than us.

it's a quote from the godfather

I've seen the film - a few times. He questioned the relevance of my Sound of Music reference, I was just returning the favor. To be clear, I was referring to the "one team and one team only" theme of this thread when comparing it to the MD argument, not just his quote. Admittedly, I much prefer The Godfather to The Sound of Music - props to him for that.

all of these guys cope with grief differently, it's fun to watch it play out.

Not even you recognizes my Godfather riff. I have to stop casting these pearls. I should have known.

I reserve grief for serious matters. I wonder if you'd have fun watching that play out.

See above - i got the reference. perhaps i should have made mention of the film, or vito in my response. Whatever, neither of us has a chance of convincing the other so I'm just trying to let it die but just when I thought I was out, you (or esbee) pull me back in...

I take your word for it. Your response, however, was the stuff of Fredo slouching in the chair, and it made no sense whatsoever, especially considering my GF adaptation was not addressed to you. And a Don Vito "whas a matter with you? Never quote Godfather III again. I think all this comedy with being both an MSU and Michigan fan has made your head go soft."

Given the context of the thread, I assumed the quote was general comment about being a fan and thus applied to Spartan fans that don't also hate Michigan. In that context, it made sense. And Fredo slouching in the chair is one of best scenes of the trilogy. The III quote was a subtle admission that I f'd up by not acknowledging your quote. Maybe working in something along the lines of "I'm smart. I can handle things" would have been better.

There you go. Or ... "a fan who supports rival programs can never be a real fan."

I did not like Goodfellas. Everyone raves about it. I thought it tiresome and overblown. Like Spartan fans when they celebrate a win over Michigan.

Like Casino, it has its moments but overall it's overrated. Both are better than III.

Oh fuck that shit.

Casino is EXACTLY the same script and storyline and plot delivery as Goodfellas; the greatest movie of all-time. For the Godfather movies it's I and II but III is a joke.

But Goodfellas is arguably the greatest movie ever made (the Sopranos stealing its Thunder).

Now go get your weed wacker!

Perhaps i misspoke and was overly harsh. It's a very good film but not as good as it's hyped up to be. What I liked most about it was that it portrayed the mob for the back-stabbing, bumbling, knuckleheaded street thugs that they are. I & II's portrayal of the mob as a glamorous, well organized machine run with military precision is entertaining but pure Hollywood fantasy. The murder montage overlayed with the Layla coda capped off with the capping of Tommy was fantastic.
