Tigers and MLB 2019-2020 Free Agents Rule 5 Offseason Calendar Winter Meetings

This afternoon's ST game @ Joker Marchant in Lakeland Tigers vs Pirates is scheduled for broadcast @ 1:00 pm ET on FSD and MLBTV.

Boyd SP wins his first game in ST, 4.1 IP, 1 run on 3 hits, a BB, and 5Ks. Cron, Maybin, and Candelario hit solo homers and Willi Castro had an RBI double to even the Tigers' GL record @ 8-8 (4-4 home and away). 4-1 final.

Pirates sink to a 3-14 ST record...doesn't help when all of their baserunners get waved around third, but 2 are nailed @ the plate on a quick relay from CF..lolz:

REMEMBER WHEN.?
Totally Tigers

The year was 2000. January to be exact. This former Tiger turned down a 8-year contract extension that would have paid him $140 million dollars.

In November of 1999, the Tigers traded 6 players for Juan Gonzalez and 2 other players. In January of 2000, they offered him a new contract which would have made him the richest player in baseball. Gonzalez declined and only played a single season in Detroit.

Describe your reaction and your opinion upon hearing that, first, the Tigers had offered the huge contract and second, that Gonzalez had turned it down.
