Tigers and MLB 2019-2020 Free Agents Rule 5 Offseason Calendar Winter Meetings

Was reviewing the '06 Tigers WS loss to the Cards. There were just three (3) players on each team who did the most damage offensively in Rolen, Molina, and Series MVP Eckstein for StL, and Casey, Inge, and Guillen for DET. Casey was the player who had the most hits (9) rbis (5) and tied CMo for most homers with 2. Cards hit only 2 homers in 5 games, and had only four (4) more hits total (36) than the Tigers, who themselves had only one (1) XBH less than the Cards with 13. Obviously the Cards who scored twice as many runs (22) than the Tigers, were far more successful @ bunching their walks and hits together. Posting re:BBs StL walked 23x to DET's 8!

Goats for the Tigers were Pudge who went 3 for 19 with a double, an RBI, a RS, 0BB, and 3 Ks, Grandy who went 3 for 19 with a double, an RBI, a RS, a BB and Ked 7x (most in Series), CMo who went 3 for 20 but all were XBH, being a double and 2 solo homers, 2 RBIs, 3 RS, a BB, and 5Ks, ALCS Game 4 hero Ordonez who went 2 for 19 (both singles) 0 RBIs, 2RS, 1BB and 4Ks....and last, but least, ALCS MVP Polanco who went ZERO (0) for 17 with 0 RBIs 0 RS, 1BB and 1K.

2x SP Justin Verlander (RoY) was roughed up for 10 runs on 12 hits (7 earned) 5 walks and 12 Ks in 11 IP for a WHIP of 1.545. In contrast, Game 2 winning SP Kenny Rogers gave up only 2 hits 3 walks and 5 Ks in 8 IP for a WHIP of 0.625.

As an aside, I recall that on the night that the Tigers lost Game 5 and the WS to the Cardinals, ESPN's sports messageboards had been very mysteriously unavailable for most members on that day and were not fully restored for posting activity until the following morning. We Tigers fan members were very fortunately spared the vast majority of trolling that would have ensued on our board as a result.

It also spared us from hearing Tigers fans blame Leyland...seems the Manager has always been the scapegoat for Tigers fans.

I kinda doubt that many if any Tigers fans blamed Leyland for much of anything back when he was the Tigers' first year manager....however many if not most likely wish NOW that Smokes would just go away ASAP, and would stop meddling in the franchise's affairs...especially since he supposedly/allegedly "retired" after the '13 postseason ended almost 7 years ago.

When in your life did you decide to be so utterly and respondably contradictory?

Do you take an opposing/differing PoV regarding most everything that your friends, family and relatives say or text...just because? Even when the subject isn't intended/meant just for you, or does not involve you in particular?

Surprise me/us with an OP instead of a sniped reply more often...but you'll have to forgive me in advance, if I don't hold my breath waiting...

When I agree with something I simply put a thumbs up on it which is actually quite often. If I agree with a post you want me to just regurgitate what was said?

Also, my comment wasn't "sniping"...I was just adding to your comment.

I am just trying to add some content to a forum in dire need of it, not necessarily to draw any replies...but it is too likely a waste of time now that most of those who posted here with some regularity have left for Reddit, Twitter, or moreso Facebook...have watched plenty of others that I belong(ed) to as a member elsewhere online (regardless of primary subject matter) dwindle to a handful of die-hards, or suddenly die off entirely over the past 7 years. Even Google could not keep their Google+ social app going, although they certainly tried to. M$ as well..but their monopolistic goal of tying their app to every website in the form of Passport failed miserably...as did Windows smartphones more recently...b/c of no 3rd party apps being created or made for profit$.

If it were not for KC's efforts in keeping this Tigers forum, (and to a somewhat lesser degree, the Lions forum) on life-support, it could become the same as, if not worse off than the Red Wings or Pistons forums.

Whoa...Holly really took it to Chrissy Illy with that scathing blog post...

I'm sure CI is trembling.

......

Tigers will be good again soon enough.
Then Holly might change her panties.

CI uses the media to paint a rosier picture of the State of the Tigers Franchise, when it is just Corpospeak which I have been witness to personally for decades.

I would be interested to know what YOU consider to be "good and soon" and by what measure it is achieved.

I never cared much for people who inherit millions and who have led a highly privileged lifesyle from their win in the "birth lotto". But Chrissy Illy inherited billions, not millions....so what does he know about the way 85% of US think or how we feel when going to a mere baseball game for a family of 4 runs north of $200.00? Thankfully my pre/teen and young adult years were filled with Tiger Stadium baseball, which I could attend for an hour or two's net pay, not a day or two's worth (if on a date).

If Illy isn't concerned about what is being blogged and posted about him and his sports franchises, then that is just more proof of how cluelessly Luddite that he is. This b/c most businesses have become acutely aware of how critically important that it is to market and maintain their Corpo Image perception in the ether. Nowadays most will gladly pay tracking, fingerprinting and social media mining specialists BIG $$$ to gain such valuable consumer data, and is why an ever-increasing amount of web-surfers are subscribing to VPNs, Proxies, and using stealth apps like TOR in an effort to protect their privacy. I very much miss the Win XP era, when I didn't have to load up my web browsers with 3rd party GitHub security addons and extensions; plus using privacy-enhanced search-engines like SearX, Swisscows, and DuckDuckGo in order to not be IDed and surreptitiously used as a money-making "product".

Below is a link to an image of cutting-edge tracking/data-mining businesses, who are using CNAME cloaking to obfuscate their presence on their clients' websites with random alpha-numeric codes to bypass anti-tracking/fingerprinting software:

Miggy Cabrera and Travis Demeritte hit B2B homers in both the 1st and 2nd innings vs the new yanks ace SP Gerrit Cole, who was torched for 6 runs (all earned) on 6 hits in 2 IP, and the Tigers went on to hit 5 more homers vs yank pitching for a total of 9 in a 15-11 win @ Joker Marchant today. Mize started and tossed 2 innings of no hit ball w/a BB and 2 Ks...however two of the Tigers' other highly rated SP prospects in Faedo and Manning, did not fare as well, with the former giving up 2 runs and 2 hits (both doubles) and 2 BBs in just 2/3 of an inning...and the latter 4 runs on 4 hits (inc a 2 run homer), 1 BB and 2 Ks in 2 IP.

All 9, most were no-doubters, wind-aided or not:

Tigers are vs Phillies this afternoon...just noticed that in addition to ex-Tiger Mikie Mahtook, Philly also signed ex-Pirate/Tiger Josh Harrison, who was released as soon as he came off the IL by the Tigers last season. Soo he is back to the NL and back to Pennsylvania...likely on a league-min contract in AAA. Since also ex-Pirate McCutchen will be on the IL to start the season, 'ol Joshy is competing with several other minor-leaguers for his spot in the OF. He is currently slashing .214/.267/.429/.695...likely needs to up his BA and OBP right quick to stand a chance of heading north with the Phillies.

Maybin and Stewart 0 fer 3 today, both now can't hitting .056 for the preseason.

Tigers w/only 2 hits losing 2..oops..4-0 in the top 7th with Alexander RP.

All of the Tigers subs are in the bot 7th...lessee if they can get the team off of the schneid before game's end.

Turnbull had another decent start.

Wind must not be blowing out today

WTG Perez..load up the bases on balls w/no outs and give up a grand slam...8-0 Phillies top 8th.

Gardie leaves Perez in who got the next two batters out on strikes looking, then relieves him with Funkhouser who promptly gives up a solo bomb....9-zip blowout.

Why would you PH for Migwell with Grayson ...he of the .083 avg?

I don't watch any spring training games...not even sure where you can watch them, but it seems that every box score I look at has just about every player getting pinch hit for. They are just trying to get everybody some ABs. I have also heard that some of the regulars like to get a few ABs then they leave...not just the game, but they leave the facility.

Something to tell your grandkids about: I once PH for the HoF Miggy Cabrera before the last season that I played in pro-ball!!

Phinal score 9-0 Phillies.

Mercer hit a 2 run homer, Zimmermann pitched a 1 hitter through 4, and the Tiger def @ nats 7-5 to even their ST record to 7-7 this afternoon. Stewie even had a multi-hit (2 singles) game for the first time this year!! His BA has "surged" to .143! But Maybin is still scuffling @ .050 after going 0-2 w/a sacfly rbi.
