Tigers @ Twins Game 120 August 16 2023

Tork, Greene and Carp finally all showing their potential. If 1 or 2 of the next wave(Malloy, Meadows, Keith, Jung) pan out we might have a nice young cheap core. Just need to find places to hide them on defense.

I think Meadows is a good defender. You have to hide Malloy. Keith should be able to handle 3B. I have no idea about Jung.

I think Meadows is a good defender. You have to hide Malloy. Keith should be able to handle 3B. I have no idea about Jung.
Jung before the draft was rated as a below average fielder. And slow, not slow as f but slow.

You still need 4 pitchers so if he is a 2 or 3 that is ok. With his injury history no gm with brains would
Give much for him. Then we have to hope our other pitchers coming off injuries can replace him.
if he is a 3 I'll take it and run with it.

The good news is that after this year, Carpenter can DH more. Opening up a corner OF spot.

the nice thing about Carpenter is at least he can play in the OF, unlike their current DH. Having a DH that can't play a defensive position is a huge disadvantage.

Tork has 6 Homeruns in his last 7 games.

I think he might have figured something out.

My hope is that he is starting to figure it out. For me, him actually figuring it out will mean numbers like he had in the minor leagues. I still believe he has it in him. He has the eye at the plate and the raw power. He had 35 HRs and an OBP of .375 in 156 minor league games. I think those are his potential major league seasonal numbers.

After today's 8/16 game, the Tigers will have 42 games remaining in the 2023 season.

Spencer Torkelson: 21 home runs in 118 games.
Kerry Carpenter: 16 homers in 77 games.
Jake Rogers: 14 homers in 81 games.
Riley Greene: 11 homers in 84 games.
