Motherfuckers

No offense, but where? I binged "ISIS threatens America" and all I see are links to the Daily Caller, Newsmax, Infowars, "Minute Men News" and other such right-wing anti-immigration cites. If there are credible threats coming from them, why isn't anyone who's not a racist, warmongering nutjob reporting it? Unless the links to MSNBC, the NYTimes, WaPo, are buried below those?

beside the point. there aren't a lot of Catholics living in the ISIS-controlled regions of the world...

name one story MSNBC, the NYT and the WaPo were out front on in the last 15 years? Please limit your response to stories that weren't made up. I like that you list MSNBC and the NYT as the first 2 on your list of credible news sources - Al Sharpton (racist, liar, fraud), Jason Blair (liar, fraud - don't know if he's racist, but at a minimum, he's a race baiter)...and let's not forget Janet Cooke, the girl who won a pulitzer prize at the Washington Post for a story she completely made up...

Yeah, but comparing the attractiveness between ISIS and the US gov? Talk about false equivalence...

Before the real idiots return to the thread, let me be clear I'm limiting the comparison to each's actions in the region.

Obviously, I would not want the ideology of a fundamentalist Islamic government fighting for its life in a brutal civil war in the Middle East to govern my local school board, city council, or DMV...

Wait, are you seriously trying to argue that the Daily Caller, Infowars, and Newsmax are more legitimate news sources than the NYT, WaPo or MSNBC? You really think a legit news story would be covered in the former and completely ignored by the latter?

I'm only vaguely familiar with the Daily Caller and all I know about Infowars is that whack-job Alex Jones. Never heard of Newsmax. Despite not using any of those sources, I'm familiar with ISIS' threats to kill infidels around the globe and raise their flag over the White House. For the record, I would put just about any source ahead of MSNBC and I have near zero regard for either the NYT or the WaPo. Only fools still think the NYT is "the Paper of Record". So answer the question - what major story in the last 15 years has been broken by one of those 3? Name one story they've been out front on? Did the NYT even break the story about Jason Blair?

Are you saying that because MSNBC, the NYT and WaPo don't report on threats ISIS is making or extremely brutal tactics or their genocide of Christians, that it isn't actually happening?

This is a really, really stupid line of thought from you, and completely irrelevent to the thread... but off the top of my head: James Risen and Eric Lichtblau's 2005 story on the Bush admin's flagrant violations of FISA, which they won the Pulitzer for.

I'm sure I could find more... but I won't because I already disproved your point.

why don't you go do some media research yourself and report back to us on the ISIS threat?

no, dummy, you can read my post, can't you?

Really, the date, topic and pulitzer prize all off the top of your head? Google, or Bing finds you 1 story from 9 years ago and that disproves my point.

How is it irrelevant? you made the outrageous claim that if the news isn't on MSNBC or in the NYT or WaPo, then it basically didn't happen or isn't credible. That's absurd. The fact is, those news outlets are always late to the game and they ignore facts if not entire stories that don't fit their narrative. If you don't believe it because Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes aren't talking about or the if you think the fact that they're not covering it is proof that it isn't happening you're just being foolish. Really, what you're doing here is discounting all the horrible things they've done (genocide against Christians, mass executions of "prisoners", murdering journalists, etc) because they made one outrageous threat about raising the flag of Allah over the White House. Knowing all this, you shrug your shoulders and say let them figure it out from one side of your mouth while screaming nonsensical claims about Israel engaging in genocide against the Palestinians from the other side You're a complete fool and a hypocrite.

I have no reason to believe that ISIS would want to harm me, other than the assertions set forth by pro-war voices in our government and media...

Just to set the record straight, do you believe this because you think the only non-combatants they kill are Christians and journalists and you're neither? Or are you confusing the desire to kill you with the ability, at present to follow through on that desire? Or because you can't find any of this on firstlook.org?

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi: "I'll see you in New York" as he was walking out of U.S. custody in 2009. Though not considered a threat at the time...it's interpreted differently now.

And you can read the entire issue of Dabiq here: It comes from ISIS directly.

A new era has arrived of might and dignity for the Muslims Amirul-Mu?minin said: ?Soon, by Allah?s permission, a day will come when the Muslim will walk everywhere as a master, having honor, being revered, with his head raised high and his dignity preserved.

Anyone who dares to offend him will be disciplined, and any hand that reaches out to harm him will be cut off. So let the world know that we are living today in a new era. Whoever was heedless must now be alert. Whoever was sleeping must now awaken. Whoever was shocked and amazed must comprehend.

The Muslims today have a loud, thundering statement, and possess heavy boots. They have a statement to make that will cause the world to hear and understand the meaning of terrorism, and boots that will trample the idol of nationalism, destroy the idol of democracy, and uncover its deviant nature.?
I call that threatening language.

That's because they and other Christians have been evicted or killed. That has not happened to me in the U.S.

Granted, all the flaws in media and biases that MC pointed out (have y'all seen the VICE video?), I believe these people rule through fear. Yes, there are wackos traveling to join them, hundred of wackos, but the millions (2.8M 3 months ago) in the ISIS footprint are subjugated by fear, not Islam. It's just wrapped in Islamic sounding language.

It's a printed magazine, not an internet post. And who said anything about invading?

You clearly did. So did zyxt, jw, I and anyone else who doesn't share his view. By not agreeing with him and seeing ISIS for what they are, you're advocating if not demanding a full scale assault and multi-generational occupation of Iraq and Syria - for starters.

I had no idea bin laden was in the US - I mean I knew his death was completely faked by the same folks that faked the lunar landing but how the hell did he gat into the U.S? Oh, never mind - I see he snuck in through Mexico. Good luck finding him in Texas - what are you gonna do put out an APB for a guy wearing camouflage and open carrying an assault rifle? Might as well put out an APB for every person in Texas...

This is funny on so many levels...but the funniest thing is...I popped open a pop (or two) and settled in to watch the Detroit Tigers baseball game...I saw this post and "MichChamp" caught the corner of my eye, and I assumed it was his post...

...and...

It's EXACTLY the kind of the he would have come up with...

"Mission accomplished" - George W. Bush

"Despite the attention ISIS has received, when American counterterrorism officials review the threats to the United States each day, the terror group is not a top concern. Al Qaeda and its affiliates remain the most immediate focus. That is because ISIS has no ability to attack inside the United States, American and allied security officials say, and it is not clear to intelligence officials that the group even wants to."
