Great Run Sparty!

Yeah keep that to himself; he'll figure it out like we all did.

Tappan is a middle school now.

It was. Jr. High back when I went to Forsythe Jr. High back - damn, back in the early 70s.

He's a M fan, no?

I got Sparty fans in my family; of course I've said that on these boards for years.

Is he excited about Coach Jim?

Does he know Coach Jim also went to Tappan?

Isn't middle school and Jr. High the same thing? Pretty sure he's still at Tappan. Yeah, he's an M fan. Of the 6 of us, 4 are Spartans and 2 are Wolverines. One of the Wolverine families lives in AA - not sure which HS they will go to (they live in Burns Park, walking distance to the elementary and Tappan too, I think). The other lives in LA - although, my brother is single so it's a family of 1. And one of the Spartan families lives in E Lansing so I usually go the Michigan game every year.

Wasn't JFK a single digit handicap guy (on top of being a philandering scumbag whose daddy bought him the white house)?

Maybe I don't know.

He might have had a decent golf handicap; regardless of anything else he was a two letter athlete at Harvard and vastly more importantly, a true war hero in the Navy.

I prefer to remember JFK as he was portrayed by William Peterson in The Rat Pack; (in which my dear friend Barbara Niven co-starred as Marilyn Monroe) a "beatnik poet" born into a universe not of his own design.

But then you know from the political board that I am a "the glass is half full" eternal Pollyanna.

George W Bush didn't play a round of golf in office after invading Iraq in 2003.

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," Bush said in a White House interview with the Politico. "I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

yeah, he did a great job managing that one!

I think all the dead people would've rather he spent more time on the links.

anyway...

Junior eyes are seventh-grade to ninth-grade; middle schools are six grade to eighth grade. So yes close but not exactly the same; and sociological scholars claim there's a vast difference.

Not that they know their asses from their elbows.

Which also doesn't mean they are wrong nevertheless.

this link is really going to explode off topic now

So anyway, I hope this run doesnt end and we win the next 2 games.

Just to clue you in, there actually is no topic on this link (or thread actually).

This thread was started by a Buckeye to make fun of us in Ann Arbor that we have nothing else to root for this year except for our hairy legged lesbian women athletes (I actually couldn't even finish voice recognition texting that last bit I was laughing so much)...

That said I'll add - congrats Spartans. Congrats on another Final Four appearance.

Meanwhile I will console myself with the accomplishments of Ann Arbor's own hairy legged lesbian athletes.

my home town publics had middle/jr high (not sure what they called it) as just 7th and 8th. If I recall, it was K then elementary was 1st through 6th, middle/jr high 7th & 8th then high school 9th through 12th. I went to Catholic school (k thru 8) then public high school.

Edit: actually, there are 3 middle schools in the district and they do include 6th grade.

Okay.

The former junior highs in Ann Arbor that were 7-9 are now middle schools, 6-8.

Same as is the case for LAUSD.

It didn't actually start that way. You'll notice there was an edit. The thread started with a genuine shout out to Sparty.

As for the edit, that was an afterthought to acknowledge the fact that the Wolverinas are licking it.

Acknowledged.

That said our athletes left standing are probably good at it.

We pursue the achievement of excellence.

There's a stigma that goes along with playing golf, kind of a rich boy, country club type aura that Bush would have been labeled with. He did do a good job of coming across as mr cowboy though he was actually 3rd generation skull & bones @ Yale. Of course Obama won't get painted with that brush for playing golf because of his skin color. Either way, presidents are allowed recreation, to think that you need to be at a desk for 14 hours a day wearing a suit to be effective is just BS.

People who complain about Obama playing golf are simply ignorant or they don't like him in the first place and are looking for some other way to trash him. Bush spent a lot of his days on vacation at his ranch, of course you're never really away from the duties of the job but a respite for a few hours always does good for someone in a high stress position.

Or he could have just teed it up everyday and not overthrown a secular dictator, thinking that a western style democracy would work in a country with deep tribal divisions, resulting in 100k+ deaths and a 6 trillion dollar cost along with thousands suffering from PTSD or being maimed.

But hey, Bush didn't play golf after 2003, so he must be a prudent decision maker with so much respect for the military families.

Too bad you weren't there to tell him it wouldn't work and that a genocidal mass murdering dictator who thumbed his nose to failed international sanctions (largely because of a corrupt and feckless UN) should be allowed to keep on murdering and repressing millions of people and violating international sanctions because some day some jackass would come in and pull the troops out when Iraq was still rebuilding and vulnerable. You missed your calling sbee because none of your beloved Dems who overwhelmingly supported the invasion were shouting that stuff from rooftops like you are as a Monday morning quarterback...

I was against the war in 2003. I don't think anyone said that Saddam was a great humanitarian, but there are a number of brutal dictators in the world, why target that one? why start talking about this invasion on 9/12/2001? could it possibly be that Cheney was looking to capitalize on the momentum and paranoia that 9/11 created?

as for Obama pulling troops out, how long should we stay there? Should we be an occupying force for decades or centuries to come? at what cost does it become not worth it? 6 trillion dollars? 4k+ american lives?

this war was ill advised and maybe the biggest blunder in American history. it was all based on faulty evidence or a lie, you pick. Cheney went to Dick Armey and told him that Saddam had the ability to build suitcase bombs and was working with al qaeda (neither were ever proven).

I'll blame the war mongering dems (i'm not a democrat so that's not an insult to me) but I lay the responsibility for this fucking mess at the feet of those who were beating the drum for us to invade preemptively based on false pretenses, then declared mission accomplished.

Thanks. I'll sleep better knowing where you lay the blame...

There are some people that dont approve of the administration for other reasons than his skin color. The narrative is that all republicans are racist etc. (abc , nbc, cbs aol time yahoo, etc) That truly detracts from the people that suffer from it. I know a load of Libs that would never go and hang out in a black neighborhood, have had interracial relations or even had a group of black friends from 1-12 but will preach race and hatred about whites as if they were programmed. The idea is to silence people with claims of hatred because its a deep enough insult that it is expected to silence those who dont agree with their beliefs. That scene is getting real old.
