Buyers or sellers?

ESPN top headline at 07:30, 7-27-16; "MLB Rumor Central: Tigers among teams looking at Jonathan Lucroy." I'm all for it as of now. The real question is what to give?

Rosenthal also noted that the Tigers were a "surprise entrant" to the race for Lucroy, and the team's system might be too thin to provide a strong enough offer for Milwaukee to seriously consider.

Would McCann, Jacoby Jones & Steven Moya be enough? Probably not. But worth trying. I'd even trade Norris & McCann for Lucroy.

Nobody is going to want McCann or Moya. Jones has attitude issues. It would probably take Stewart and/or Alexander.

Probably not worth it for 1 1/4 year of Lucroy.

Lucroy is arguably the 2nd best all-around catcher behind Posey. He is making $4.25 Mil this year and has a $5.25 Mil Club Option for 2017. He would arguably increase the Tigers by 4 wins with the schedule remaining. If the Tigers are serious about contending, he is the difference maker they need.

Additionally, there is always a chance they work out an extension prior to the end of 2017. If not, they give him a qualifying offer.

If any player has gold value right now, it is Lucroy.

So you think if Lucroy was on the Tigers all year they would be 61-41....the second best record in baseball?

Here something too many do not think about at these trade dead lines.
Lucroy is one player on the 40 man roster. Your trade idea would put 3 40 man roster players on the 39 man Brewer roster making them 42 after the trade. At some point some ones get left cut. Even Norris & McCann throws them over at 41. And trust me here teams do look at this. That's why minor often get thrown into these trades. And there in lies the real problem for the Tigers. There short in the minor's of good tradable players.

Really the Brew crew will want a catcher in return. And a change for McCann could be what he needs. And really the Tigers would need to adjust there 40 man some what. As they do not trend to carry 3 catchers on the 40. So McCann is really/should be in the mix in such a trade.

Yea I would make a Norris and McCann trade. But I think It would take a minor as well.

Another way of looking at this. Is the Cabrera trade again. Tigers were giving a boot load to Miami. Just where were all those players going to fit on the 40. So Willis came along in the deal and made room for one. I all ways felt there was more to that trade than was read, said, or heard about. Me thinks Tigers had to take him, so the 40 would work better for Miami.

But really the 40 man roster imo is a factor to be dealt with.

maybe...maybe 59-43 even. Our pitchers would be so much better with a good catcher. And the offensive upgrade over McCann cannot be overstated.

Understand though that 1968 and other Freehan years it was a pitchers era. Mounds were even higher.. Not so easy to compare. Just based on offensive stats.
