MSU Football recruiting

Messiah DeWeaver measure in at 6-4.5, 215lbs at the Cleveland Elite 11 QB camp and won camp MVP.

Listed everywhere at 6"3 and generally those sites are liberal in their height and weight numbers. 6-4.5 215 is great. I wonder how many carries Scott will actually get this year?

Saw him pictured next to Cook and he was taller, Cook is listed at 6-4. Beat out some higher ranked QBs for MVP today, including UM's fall back plan for when Messiah told Harbaugh no thanks.

I saw that pic of them also.

Demetric Vance listed his favorites yesterday, no order Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Ohio State and Penn State

Donnie Corley said Tennesee, Ohio State, USC, LSU and Michigan State are his leaders

S Kenny Lyke listed his top 5 as MSU, Oregon, TCU, Ohio State, Baylor. Lyke is reportedly being bumped to a 92 on 247 soon after some extremley impressive off season performances.

Corley's family is completely sold on MSU, I think he pulls the trigger soon. Interesting that we're the only in state school he is still considering. Maybe he's lactose intolerant.

i heard mom is on board now, they wouldn't have been surprised if popped over the weekend

May already have been mentioned but in case not, Columbus kid Austin Andrews may be headed to EL. Strong player but no offer as yet from Buckeyes.

Heard the same, is visiting this coming weekend where he is expected to commit.

Austin has OSU as a top 5 but they havent offered him. I imagine hed leapfrog if they did.

Rumblings that an elite prospect committed to another school is visiting MSU for the 3rd time since committing to that other school and is considering flipping. Heard some George Hill rumors over the last few weeks, would be sweet to swipe a top 100 player from Ohio State.

Edit: more smoke on George Hill, this time coming from Ohio State saying he might be flipping.

How insane is Ohio State's class going to end up being? We might end up with a top 100 RB because they have two higher, and we might end up with a top 50 DE (Josh King) because they have 4 that are higher ranked and 1 right behind that. When their class fleshes out it will have like 15 top 150 players.

If Jeremy Birmingham is reporting it, there is damn well something to it:

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-recruiting/2015/04/53128/george-hill

I personally hope that Hill hangs in with Buckeyes. Meyer has shown that he can effectively use three top shelf guys. Walker, Hill & McCall = Elliott, Marshall and Wilson. But if Hill's objective is to be the feature RB, Spartans have a great chance to flip him.

Lastly, it's true, OSU's 2016 class is going to be ridiculous. B1G East is going to be ridiculous.

Doesn't make sense to me but there is some speculation that Hill may have approached MSU with the idea of recruiting him as a DB.

Also heard he visited recently on the down low. He's a good player and has a good relationship with LJ Scott. Obviously 1 recruit isn't make or break for any team, but he'd be a nice addition to an already strong looking MSU class.

Messiah DeWeaver has been recruiting hard for us, he's a kid that it seems like a lot of the other top recruits really are drawn to. Being reported that Donnie Corley almost committed last weekend and that had a lot to do with DeWeaver. Chambers has also been doing his share of recruiting for MSU. They have a goal of getting this class to a top 10 one, that would be something. Top 10, Top 40, what's more important than the ranking is that our coaches continue to follow their process in getting humble kids who want to work and who want to come to MSU. We've got a good history of our top ranked recruits working just as hard as our lower ranked recruits. And several recruits have remarked how Coach D, the staff, and the team treat everyone the same, 4 and 5 star guys aren't getting more love than a 2 or 3 star guy i for a visit. That stuff sticks with recruits.

From Eleven Warriors:

3. MICHIGAN STATE // SEVEN COMMITMENTS // 3.29 AVG STAR RANKING

Michigan State is coming off a big recruiting weekend that propelled them all the to way third in the Big Ten's rankings.

The Spartans class is led by a pair of wide receivers, Justin Layne and Cameron Chambers, each of whom held a Buckeye offer. Quarterback Messiah deWeaver looks to be a vital cog and is taking his role as class leader and recruiter very seriously, focusing on a number of players targeted by Ohio State, such as the aforementioned Lukusa, Jordan and Corley. Matthew Allen, a center from Hinsdale, Illinois is ? and I might need to fact check this ? the 86th person in his family who will suit for the Spartans. Expect another big year on the field from Michigan State and with that, continued success on the recruiting trail.

OSU can lose a few top recruits and it will barely be felt. Some programs lose a 4 star guy and its devastating. Chances are he will just be replaced with a 5 star guy and in the end OSU upgraded :)

Messiah DeWeaver won QB MVP at the Chicago Nike Opening camp this weekend and will go to the national event. There's talk that he could end up being a top 5 QB after all the summer camps. And his quotes at these events sound very mature, he always talks about getting better so he can help his team this Fall and help Michigan State after that.

Donnie Corley showed up wearing MSU gear. The MSU targets were all hanging together and things look very good for us getting Corley, Robertson, and King.

ND experts say Josh King has MSU way ahead of everyone else now.

All great to hear, I figured Corely and Robertson were essentially done deals but King would be somewhat of a longshot.

OH Athlete Jonah Morris was offered by MSU this morning, and he then set his commitment announcement for this evening. He's a 6-4, 195 lb WR/LB that we are recruiting to play LB or maybe safety. He claims to have run a 4.37, but was timed at 4.44 in a camp. He's good friends with Justin Layne.

The offer was last week and HE says that MSU is recruiting him as an Athlete that could play WR, safety or MAYBE LB depending on how much he grows over the next year.

Hearing that we have at least 2 silent commits right now. Guessing Andrews and Morris.

Daelin Hayes has visited MSU 4 or 5 times this Spring, he's a USC commit.

A lot of MSU crystal balls coming in for Penn State CB commit Levert Hill.

Messiah DeWeaver was invited to the Rivals 5 Star Challenge, if you're into rankings this could be a chance for Messiah to really improve his. Last year 21 of the top 25 rivals players were at this event. Win MVP of the QBs (Only 6 or 7 are even invited) and you could be looking at 5 star status according to Rivals. DeWeaver has certainly blown up recently on the camp trail. He's been invited to this event, will be at the Opening, and the national Elite 11 QB camp too.

Apparently he's grown a couple inches and really filled out his frame, this has had the effect of dramatically increasing his arm strength which is now seen as elite or near elite. Scouts have already loved his decision making, accuracy, and leadership.
