The official 2018 nfl draft thread

You trade up for a rb... you better use him. I fully expect kerryon Johnson to be a 1000 yard back.

He should, if he is one of two or three RB with enough carries, but...

I am the messenger here.

You should go to Pride of Detroit, the story link and at end of story, where comments are add yours,

Kerryon Johnson didn’t allow a sack or drop a pass in 2017.

2 big areas the Lions expect production from their RBs.

Detroit Lions Breakdown Episode #59: 2018 Draft Recap. 53 minutes.

The draft captivated the NFL world over the past weekend, as always. The Lions were, of course, included in that mayhem and added 6 players that they will hope will help shape their franchise over the next decade.
Without further ado, Erik breaks down the 6.

Akeem Spence was traded to the Dolphins for a conditional 7th round draft pick.

Round 1 Pick 20 IOL Frank Ragnow ? Arkansas.

Round 2 Pick 43 RB Kerryon Johnson ? Auburn.

Round 3 Pick 82 DB Tracy Walker ? Louisiana-Lafayette.

Round 4 Pick 114 DL Da?Shawn Hand ? Alabama.

Round 5 Pick 153 OL Tyrell Crosby ? Oregon.

Round 7 Pick 237 FB Nick Bawden ? San Diego St.

Thanks to all of the listeners out there, even the ones where we can?t see their reviews.

Round 1 Interior linemen
Round 2 RB
Round 3 Safety/Cb hybrid
Round 4 trade future Round 3 for Dlinemen
Round 5-7 FB, backup OT. (2015 had Diggs in Round 6 but Lions gave up Round 6 in trade for Greg Robinson)

This is the exact 2015 draft, even the 4th round trade. FB and back OT were switched with Burton and Corey Robinson in 2015 in Round 5 and 7. These players better work out though.

Copying a dumbass like mayhew sounds like one of the top 5 worst things you can do to set a franchise back.

Fucks up the lions.

Goes to the giants... destroys that franchise.

On to san fran...lynch won't let him break the 9ers.

Pretty sure Quinn isn't trying to copycat Mayhew lol

Look at that pile of human garbage with the words "Detroit Lions" next to their names and tell me he was a good GM again. A better definition would be "breathing GM".

or this one...

or this one.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_NFL_Draft (how's that Greenway pick looking this days by the way? Next Richard Sherman was it?)

Or this one....

Or this one....

Or his very first one....

His good picks boil down to Matt Stafford, Ndamukong Suh (who's contract he royally botched later) DeAndre Levy, Tahir Whitehead, Ezekial Ansah, Darius Slay, Larry Warford (who could have been resigned for cheaper than they guy they brought in), Sam Martin.

Eight guys in 7 drafts that are inarguably good players, and two of those he screwed up the contracts on. Diggs and Lawson are arguably good players, with a lot to prove still.

2013 he hit some good picks, other than that every draft was dog shit. Stafford and Suh were no brainer picks no one could have screwed up, and he still almost took Aaron Curry or Jason Smith over Stafford. That would have been the worst mistake since Babe almost took best picture from Braveheart.

He was NOT a good GM, and his track records speaks volumes in that regard.

Let's expand that just a little bit....

Eight players in seven drafts. Two of those players never made it to a contract extension with the team due to bad management, Suh and Warford.

So we're down to six, that he did not screw up in some fashion later.

Stafford was a no-brainer he almost screwed up, but any team that just went 0-16 is taking a QB #1. So he gets a minor amount of credit there, but not a great deal as there was almost no other choice.

We're down to five.

Slay, Ansah, Martin all came from one draft. It was a good draft.

We're down to two players that he either didn't screw up, or didn't get from one lucky draft. Two, in six remaining years. Two. Think about that for a minute.

The guy managed to draft Tahir Whitehead and DeAndre Levy out of six frigging drafts. And you say he's a good GM because they managed to make the playoffs in spite of his incompetence?

You like to pretend you're one of the smartest voices in the room, but you prove consistently you don't have a clue. But this might actually be the single dumbest thing you have ever tried to argue.. and that breaks some serious records.

Mayhew was one step up from Millen only because he didn't leave us completely screwed against the cap when the walls came tumbling down... and he would have if the NFL hadn't put a rookie cap in place. Out of two drafts before the rookie cap, he screwed 50% of them up so badly we lost an elite player for no reason other than mismanagement of contracts.

Mayhew made a ton of good moves and added many good players.
Stafford, Delmas for when he actually played in 2009-2011 and 2013 and Levy was great before injury. All were good to solid players. Sammie Lee Hill had a nice role for years. Corey Williams was a nice solid player for 3 years at DT for a 5th round trade. Houston had nice 2010-2012 seasons before failing playing hurt in 2013. Fairley played well in Detroit especially 2012-2014. Reiff was a good player, Warford a good player but we went Lang instead of him, Suh a great player. Riddick a good player. Martin a good punter, Slay a great CB, Ansah a great DE when healthy. Whitehead was a solid player. Rob Sims solid guard for years for a 5th round pick trade. Shaun Hill good backup in the early years. Ngata was a good player for 2 years and 5 games.

Mayhew has more hits than misses and the misses many were injury related bullshit.

So in a discussion about his drafts, you try to throw in the free agents he signed, which essentially added a couple of players to the ones I already named, and then threw a couple of picks in that you say "would" have been good.. but weren't... and think you made a point?

Okay then. If you ever wonder why you are the biggest joke on the board, come back and read this thread again. Some day it's going to click for you and you're going to say "Ooooh... I get it".. but clearly that ain't today.

He used draft picks you idiot. Corey Williams, Houston and Sims he traded draft picks for players. LOL you don't even know how these players were acquired. You are pathetic.

Mayhew built the Lions into a winner. Couldn't get over the hump due to injuries and unfortunately got canned. But that led to bigger and better things. Good GM to great GM.
