Tigers 2017 Season Debacle, trades, releases and fired thread

Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports the Tigers ?would be willing to eat the remaining money -- about $12 million -- on Verlander?s contract this season, but no more.? A six-time All-Star, Verlander is owed $56 million over the next two seasons and has a $22 million vesting option for 2020.

The reason LA is out of the running so to speak.. They don't want to pay 56m and give up to prospect..

A gift for all.. Maybe the dumbest gift ever. Sells for 14.95.. The donut warming mug. I was looking for something for mom's 83rd and came across this. Lol.

Me: "Did the Tigers lose today"?

Other Tigers fan: "No".

Me: "How come"?

Other Tigers fan: "They didn't play".

Alex Verdugo not in OKC lineup tonight and Yadier Alvarez not listed as Fri. starter for Tulsa. Both LAD prospects rumored trade pieces.
If this is for a trade for RHP the Dodgers need, it would be for Yu Darvish, Sonny Gray, or JV.

nvm. Alex Verdugo has a regularly scheduled day off today.

Based on the comment I wrote earlier on what LA said I don't think JV.

The Dodgers are also looking at starters, of course, and they are increasingly confident in landing a big name. Currently, Los Angeles is focused more on Rangers star Yu Darvish than either Sonny Gray of the Athletics or Justin Verlander of the Tigers.
Of course, at this point it?s still unclear whether Darvish will be marketed at all, and it?s not really known how keen the Dodgers? interest is in the other two starters.

I might have a new favorite Tiger. This guy gets it.

No one is indispensable, IMO. The problem is that I have no faith that AA can make trades. EDIT: I wonder how the veteran players are presently regarding Fulmer. He essentially stated that he wants the deadwood pruned.

Agreed about not having faith that Avila can figure out this whole trade thing.

That was also my thoughts when I read the Fulmer stuff. Kinda risky for a 2nd year player to put himself out there like that with a team full of proven vets. But the other side of it is that I've always thought this current core has lacked leadership so maybe that's his way of trying to put himself in that position.

Kirk Gibson and Jack Morris, for example, have more than one WS ring, b/c they later played for other teams who won a championship. Cabrera has only one as a Marlin, but JV, Kinsler, Avila, and esp Victor have none, and Martinez in particular, who I recall stating that he felt that signing his first 4-year deal with the Tigers represented his best shot at winning a ring. But instead it turned out to be the ballclub that he left in the redsucks that did.

If a vet Tigers player is looking @ the end of the road in MLB within the next few years, why wouldn't he want to be traded to a contender? The Tigers have started a rebuild for sure now, after going through one last season of dashed postseason hopes in '16. A sure chance of winning a ring ain't happening here anytime soon.

The #Dodgers and #Cubs are in a bidding war now for #Tigers reliever Justin Wilson. Wilson will definitely be gone by tomorrow.
