Head of Big Ten officials agrees Bolden call vs MSU was wrong

I don't. Throw out 1970; he was not on the field. But since you watched all the games, like I did, I'll account for your opinion. Disappointing for certain, but the bowl record does make him "overrated."

I watched a lot of them. You can't just throw out 1970 just because the guy had a heart attack the day before - do you think they scrapped his game plan and started from scratch? Besides, based on his subsequent 2 & 7 record, odds are he wouldn't have made that big of a difference. It probably would have been like almost every other year where they beat OSU in a big game (HUGE game in 1969) then disappointed in the Rose Bowl.

Well, I had on several occasions (after his coaching career was completed) and that is/was not my impression nor the opinion of a lot of the ballplayers who played for him in the 70s at the time they were on the team.

I'm sure I could talk to a few people who met Hillary Clinton on several occasions, possibly even some people as respectable as you, that would say great things about her too. I'm not saying Hillary and Bo are equivalent, but I bet that would be the case for just about any jackass.

You won't even grant me the advantage of having met and interviewed the man at length?

My sister has met Hillary several times and she has witnessed her very worst behavior, which is all that has been written about her and discounted by her apologists.

I accept that you have a different opinion of the man and valid reasons for it. And I believe that your sister and many other people who have met Hillary have a very negative impression of her. Are you not willing to accept even the possibility that a person like Bo could leave different people with different impressions of him and that more than 1 of those impressions is valid?

Spartanmack, don't unravel. The beat down hasn't happened, yet. You guys got a one year reprieve last year, enjoy it. You know deep down you have to bathe in that last second error for probably the next 5 years. Bathe............it will all end soon.

Understandably his players were somewhat distracted by his absence and the reason for it. Average score differential of those eight RB losses was less than a TD, and before the scoffing begins, I recall a .500 Dantonio season where Spartan fans lamented that many of the games were "close losses." But 2-8 is not satisfactory.

unravel? it's funny how biases enter into reading these posts. How did we get a reprieve from the beat down last year? That game was a "beat down" up until the last play? a game in which uofm got outplayed in every aspect except special teams (until the last play, of course). A game that was in question the entire evening? you should have someone explain what a beat down is and then check the box score.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting the importance of special teams. They are a big part of the game and games are often won and loss with them. If not for special teams play, rather than needing to score, we could have been in a position to burn out the clock on our last drive.

My sister signed for her campaign speeches and saw the contrast first hand between the public and not-public Hillary. Where else did you see Bo save for on the sidelines of games? And if that's the only way you can judge him then I suggest your opinion is slanted and one-dimensional.

Too bad they couldn't rally behind him - he could be UofM's George Gipp. I don't recall much lamenting about that season which was actually sub .500. Regardless of point differential we weren't a good team in 2012 - a good defense but zero offense. We lost to 3 bad teams that year, including Michigan and got beat pretty badly by a mediocre ND team (yes, they were mediocre despite their record).

Actually I had some empathy for that team. Must have been very frustrating. As for the 1970 game, it does not work that way and the Gipp story was a complete prevarication anyway. And it was not used by Knute until 8 years after Gipp died, not 16 hours after the event. The M players were "numb" by the recollections I have read.

Let's just face it, Bo was a jackass. Remember the time he interrupted that Spartan coach's talk at the high school football coaches clinic? Wait, that doesn't sound right. Maybe that time he personally responded to that Spartan player that was smacktalking by picking on his height? No...that wasn't him either. Oh, how about when one of his players attacked a hockey player and ended his career and Bo reinstated him? Man, what a jackass.

It was very frustrating but the lack of offense was far more frustrating than close losses. There is no consolation in losing a close one to the Mildcats or Iowa or a bad Michigan team. When you lose those 3, barely beat Indiana, a bad Wisconsin team and Minnesota it doesn't matter that you could have or even should have beaten OSU and/or Nebraska.

I know all about the Gipp story, I was joking - and I thought the ND reference was particularly funny.

See, it's possible for some people to have a negative impression of someone for valid reasons while others have a positive impression of that person, also for valid reasons. And for the record, nobody was more critical of Winston getting reinstated than I was.

Gimme some examples of Bo being a "jackass" in your opinion. "Explain" please.

What are the valid reasons for thinking Bo was a jackass? The sideline tempertantrums?

Why? is there any chance it would change your opinion of him? I'm sure for every reason or every example you have an excuse for why it's either not true or OK for Bo but not for someone else, particularly Dantonio or you simply don't believe it. You've seen him act like a jackass on the sidelines and in post game press conferences - like in his last Rose Bowl loss. And there's this, which is consistent with what people I knew who played for Bo have said about him.

But you probably have other players who say different things about their experiences so it's not possible that this is true, right?
