Wheatley to Jags... Not surprising as he worked in Marrone's staff

I know myself and others are wondering if the Pep Hamilton hire had something to do with this. Naturally the guys you have move into positions to fill. He could have stayed RBs coach along with being assigned to Co-Coordinator. Instead Harbaugh brings in another guy, even though they coached together. I actually feel for Wheatley in this. He hasn't been a coordinator before, but being Co is the part of the equation that would make sense. Drevno runs it, but with input from all. I'm not saying Harbaugh is the bad guy in this at all. It just sucks for a guy that wants to be a coordinator that can't get his foot in the door, even at his alma mater.

Even when he's the greatest RB of all time at his alma mater.

I've seen A LOT of speculation about Wheatley over the weekend - including idea that Jags deal is not final.

Wheatley is a great recruiter and good coach but had no (coaching) ties to UM other than being an Alum and former player until Harbaugh arrived. Perhaps Wheels came home as a favor - to be part of the turnaround - and to help Harbaugh but always with the understanding he had bigger aspirations.

Who knows? But given that there was never a hint of any issues on staff, I'm wondering why so many fans seem to think Harbaugh is 'screwing him' or keeping him back.

Because they're dumb.

Marrone left the bills I believe at the time he came here

I think it is just about building resume at a better school

He obviously gets along with Maronne

P.s. Wikipedia pages has him at jags

well if he left Buffalo for UM and now heads back to the Jags, maybe Wheels wants to be in the NFL more than he wants to be in college. Folks sneered that Harbaugh wouldn't want to recruit high school kids (clearly not the case) but it is true that recruiting isn't for everyone. Some coaches like the Pros better.

Talk of Kyle Shanahan possibly to Broncos last week and his 'resume' shows he jumped from Mack Brown's staff at UT to the NFL right away - he wanted an NFL coaching career. Maybe Wheatley feels the same..?

Who knows. I was just saying Marrone had left the bills to take a non head vacuum job so Wheatley was free for a bit f time.

Maybe he likes pros but he supposedly interviewed for WMU job, maybe it is Maronne

I think the speculation comes from Fisch leaving and then Harbaugh not filling the position right away and subsequently at that particular moment, it is said Wheatley is looking around. Could all be just coincidence.
