2019 Offseason (General)

Philadelphia acquire: Tyler Pitlick

Dallas acquire: Ryan Hartman

Hartman is on his 4th team in 24 months. Chicago sent him to Nashville for a package involving a first round pick two trade deadlines ago. He was than sent this past trade deeadline as part of the Wayne Simmonds acquisition.

Never got the big hype train about this guy.

Travis Sanheim signs extension with Philadelphia for 2 years worth $6.5 million.

Matt Hunt signs 2 years extension with Minnesota worth $1.4 million.

Yes, until the season starts.

Once season starts Zetterberg/Franzen go on LTIR.

Arizona Acquire: Carl Soderberg

Colorado Acquire: Kevin Connauton and 3rd round pick [2020]

A steal for Arizona, they get a solid #2 forward for a relatively low price.

Connauton was their 7th defenseman based on ice-time, and given he is 29 he isn't going to get better. He might receive more of a role in Colorado. Perhaps this is a cap dump for Colorado to pursue a big free agent.

Must be a huge free agent as Colorado is not even at the cap floor.

They only have 13 players signed according to capfriendly.

They need a goalie to tandum with Grubauer
Zadorov extension.
They only have 5 forwards signed!

Granted that Compher (2-3.5), Kamenev (1 mil), Kerfoot (2.5-4 mil) should be relatively cheap to extend. All are RFAs and I doubt any have arbitration rights.

Rantanen needs a new deal and he is one of the league's top forwards. At minimum he would want near the 6 million of Landeskog/MacKinnon, but fair market value would be around 10 million. Go figure Mikko don't have arbitration rights (should be big sticking point in next CBA).

So for the RFAs its anywhere between 11.5-18.6 million based on my bullshit random guesswork.
Zadorov will get anywhere between 2-4 million.
Depending what they target as a goalie its anywhere from 1-6 million.

So low end is about 14 million or high end 28.5 million just for the RFAs.

That would leave 9 forward signed, 7 defence and 2 goalies. Leaves 4 spots open for new players.

Worst case scenario would have about 10 million for 4 spots.
Best case around 24 million for 4 spots.

Ignoring the team's own UFAs. They probably do need another defenceman cause their defensive play that season was pretty poor.

Luongo retires.

Florida and Vancouver will get stuck with recapture penalty.

Florida just over 1 million for 3 years.
Vancouver 3 million for 3 years

Colorado acquire: Andre Burakovsky (RFA)

Washington acquire: Scott Kosmachuk (likely career AHL), 2nd round pick (2020), and 3rd round pick (2020).

Burakovsky had a down year, so Colorado must believe they can get him to turn the scoring back up. Only had 25 points in 71 games, typically produces around 30-40 point range. Appears Colorado overpaid a little for Burakovsky, but he has the skill to bounce back and provide the scoring depth Colorado badly need. Granted his icetime fell to 11 minutes per game which is 4th line level, borderline third.

Ditto.

Unless Wings sign some free agent, only upgrades we would be getting are possibility of Veleno, Zadina and/or Cholo making the team.

Its reported that Detroit won't re-up Vanek. Perhaps he will follow Holland to Edmonton :)

I remember Yzerman remarking about free agents rather than trades. Understand with a rebuild but with teams in tight caps there are some steals.

I was bored so I made predictions of what free agents are going to get.
