The Tigers should never have traded Skubal in the first place​

Then again, he shouldn't have even been available. Did I say gutless above? That's not even a strong enough word for the Tigers front office. How unbelievably and pathetically cowardly. It's equally baffling and infuriating. The Tigers were 2 ½ games out of a playoff spot and traded arguably the best pitcher in baseball. Read this sentence again.

How is the discourse centered on the Dodgers instead of shaming the Tigers into oblivion? They gave up on their season less than a series out of a playoff spot. The Tigers have gone 32-20 since the end of May. At that rate, they'd have ended up with one of the AL Wild Card spots. And the front office quit on the team.


Sure, they could try and spin it any which way they so desire -- "they couldn't let Skubal walk for nothing this offseason," being the main argument -- but dealing your ace while within striking distance of a playoff spot in a wide-open American League is waving a white flag.

Shame on them.

Yes, the focus is going to remain on the Dodgers and how "no fair!" baseball is. We knew that was coming.

But the main focus should absolutely be on the woeful behavior of the Tigers front office in addition to the cowardice from the Brewers, Rays et al.


Im just shocked they didn’t try snd get some bullpen help.
I guess the tigers are waiting till 2028.

I don't hate it. Added 4 pitchers to a farm system that really didn't have good pitching depth. 2 guys that they got are in the Tigers top 6 on our new prospect rankings. I have to believe that Hope will be in RF next year. Once they traded Mize, I was hoping that Torres was soon to follow, but that didn't happen. The rotation for the rest of the year is going to be terrible, but you never know....as bad as the AL is this year, it wouldn't surprise me if they are still in the conversation for the WC in September. I'm still happy they sold. They weren't WS contenders, so get what you can get.

stupid article. They were 2.5 games out. On paper, that is one series...but that is if they were playing one team that was in front of them. There are 5 teams in front of them. They did the right thing

Besides that we all know they only do just enough to keep you hoping then go and lose games to the royals and blow 7-0 leads late and stuff like that. Now watch them take 2-3 from Seattle then go and get swept by the giants. That’s how they roll.

We use to have Laim Hicks in the system. He was at Erie but I think we left him unprotected because we had a lot of catchers in the system and Miami Rule 5 him from us.

Rays traded for him today. I was shocked Miami kept him on the roster all of 2025.:

River's given up 47 men-on-base in 36 innings for the Oklahoma City Comets.
Considering his eight games starts, my best guess would be sometime in 2027. He's still a work-in-progress.

Hes coming back from Tommy john surgery. He'll be on a similar track with Jobe.
