Game #29: Detroit Tigers @ Houston Astros, Monday April 28th, 8:10: Pm

Tigers hit 3 homers and freaking lose. Maybe tomorrow we bounce back. We need a shortstop with a damn arm

Malloy under .196
Sweeny .205
Jung .133 (do like his play at third so far)
Keith .176 (Has no position he can play)
I guess they do draw some walks.

we can’t seem to get these two to hit at the same time.
Greene .234. Is going up
Tork .245. Man he is so unlucky on som hard hit balls.
He is playing so good at first. Man I want him to hit .270or higher
Imo, Tork is just a .230 hitter. But if he can continue to drive the ball, and play good defense he'll be a positive attribute. Keith is lost, they fk'd him up good. Jung, I'll give him a pass for now. Partially because we don't have a competent 3B. Malloy has too good of an eye to bat so low..

I don’t understand we we can’t have one of these guys come up from the minors hitting.. very frustrating how they mash in Toledo but not a lick in the majors. Hopefully soon.

Didn't the guys on the team now mash in Toledo at one point? It's not as easy as replacing guys just based on a couple weeks of hitting in Toledo.

I guess. They had to mash at some point to make it this far lol.,

Greene's two-HR game just might satisfy his toughest critic -- himself.

I agree. Tork had such a hot start with his batting average, he wasn't going to sustain it. But if he can still get on base, and when he does hit, do damage, I am 100% fine with him as the every day 1B. I'm not a fan of Malloy. He gets on base, which is nice, but he is a poor defensive player that doesn't seem to hit. He's only 25, so he has time to develop.

Javier Báez so far in 2025:
24 G
.299/.341/.377
1.8 barrel % (career low)
32.7 hard hit % (-7.3% from ‘24)
49.1 swing % (career low)
28.8 whiff % (career low)
Not making as much hard contact but swinging and missing way less.

What are the contributing factors to Detroit Tigers' 18-10 record?
After a series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers last week, the Tigers went on to clinch series wins against the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, and sweep the Baltimore Orioles. With Evan still away handling baby Petzold duties, Mark brings back Freep high school sports reporter and current pinch Tigers beat reporter Jared Ramsey to help discuss what factors are leading to the Tigers’ strong start to the 2025 season. Beyond valuable pitching from both starters and the bullpen, the guys hone in on the noteworthy month Zach McKinstry is having, as well as the impact Dylan Dingler is making with his bat and behind the plate. Mark and Jared also discuss the continued positive contributions of Javier Báez and Spencer Torkelson. The guys also offer updates on the rehab timelines for Matt Vierling, Parker Meadows, and check in on the minor leaguers including Bryce Rainer.

Tigers outfielder Manuel Margot, on the injured list since April 8 with knee inflammation, will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo tonight.

TMLR Week 5 Recap: Here comes the Rainer Again. 82 minutes.
The guys recap the Tigers series win over Baltimore, Bryce Rainer and Max Anderson won player of the week awards, and Toledo climbs out of the cellar.

3 players Tigers fans already regret not adding this offseason.

He keeps that ops over .700 and I think we'll all be happy even if he doesnt hit any homers all year. Hell, I'd be h happy with .600 ops from him lol
