Call Them Up: Ben Malgeri Has Played His Way Into the Conversation.
TMLR

OF Ben Malgeri promoted to Detroit, Brett Callahan and John Peck promoted to Triple-A Toledo.
It’s promotion day in the Tigers system.
BYBTB

Tigers Select Ben Malgeri.
MLBTR

Tigers are calling up OF Ben Malgeri.
They’ve optioned Trei Cruz and placed Burch Smith on the 60-day IL.
The Tigers today selected the contract of OF Ben Malgeri from Triple-A Toledo. Malgeri joins the first major league roster of his career and will wear uniform number 53.

The Tigers have finished with two or more position players in the top ten in fWAR just three times since 1960:
2007 - Magglio Ordóñez (3rd), Curtis Granderson (4th).
1990 - Cecil Fielder (4th), Alan Trammell (8th).
1961 - Norm Cash (2nd), Rocky Colavito (5th), Al Kaline (7th).

Tigers with some minor-league promotions today, none surprising, beginning with Brett Callahan and John Peck moving from Double A Erie to Toledo. Hayden Minton, a solid RH starter, goes to Erie, as does power-hitting first baseman Garrett Pennington (14 HRs), who is 25 and who was undrafted when the Tigers signed him out of N.C. State by way of Wichita State. Pennington will add a few bombs at that more inviting Erie ballpark.

Yikes Kevin.
That’s an out if you catch the ball a think.

Mize works out of the Jam ! !

Malgeri singles first at bat ! After Mckinstry singles. He goes to 3rd. Scored on a wild pitch or pass ball.

Malgeri's first big league hit.

What a tough at bat by Kevin left on left. Sees a bunch of pitches fouls a few off before the run. Pops out.

Dingler singles rbi on a 0-2 pitch.
2-0 . Malgeri's first run.

Dingler has the most 2 out rbis this season with 34.

When perez is ready to come back DFA him and keep Ben or better yet, jones is still here for some unknown reason

Shoot.
Tork was ahead 3-0..
Then it was 3-2..
Swings at ball 4.

Jones now 0-2. The lefty killer.

We have the worst 3rd base coach ever.
Greene was on third when the ball was thrown from left.
Out by 10 feet.

Damn soft hit off Mize. So unlucky. Freaking infield hit.

Mize is so unlucky . Had him 1-2 and just missed on the next 2 pitches. But on 3-2 throws a darn 87 mph slider right down the middle . Ball didn't slide

Ball had hit me all over it and now we are behind 3-2.

Mize gets next out on k.
Then another 1-2 count single ends Mize night.

Holton stinks as it's now 4-2 batter goes the other way ..

Not sure where Greene was playing . Route seemed strange.

Inning over trail 4-2.

Tigers 6th
Dingler (1-2) double
Vierling(0-2) double. 4-3 now.
Greene (1-2), (2-2) K's swinging
(right down the middle 87)
Pitching change

So frustrating..

Tigers just don't seem to move runners over well poor Ab by Riley.

Nothing after Vierlings double. Some really poor at bats.

Colt should have jumped on that first strike; just not enough confidence. Fast ball right down the middle.

Malgeri's 2nd hit then gets double off. On liner to rf.

So close to trap..

I bet Yankees get that call.

No way Vierling was getting 2 hits tonight.
Tigers 3 hole hitter is batting
(.200-.259-.344) freaking pathetic.
