Problem is CL's team smoked the Fab 5 in the Finals. It sucked.

Get StartedFWIW ...the producer of the Laettner 30/30 said the idea came after a relatively recent survey of who is the most hated college hoops player of all-time and Laettner won it going away ...all these many years later.
So ...the premise of the film was born
Yes. Everyone hates laettner and Duke.
They suck.
Crawford was punished but I don't think michigan was, that's a one off, not Michigan's fault. My point on th fab five is that they wouldn't have been as fun if it wasn't for the cheating. The whole Fab Five area was fun to watch but in the end it ****ing killed Michigan hoops because of the cheating.. But There is some gray area in regards to Jamal Crawford and his suspension because at that time period a lot of colleges Duke included were doing the same thing with players and I am pretty sure only Michigan was punished for JC..
What if Laettner was black? My guess is that he wouldn't be looked at the same way.
Also, I love when UM fans say that Izzo can thank Ed Martin. Michigan was involved in the biggest pay for play scandal in college basketball history & owns the record for the most forfeited games but somehow the ego of some fans still makes excuses. It's like saying, if we never got caught for years of cheating we would have been better....no shit. If you wouldn't have cheated who knows how good you would have been to begin with?
Also, Martin's involvement with the program goes back way past the fab five. The records show that he gave money to Terry mills who reported it and returned it, but who else did he give money to? The grand jury investigation only went back so far.
I think some Michigan fans, the ego centric ones like Vic can't seem to conceptualize that they're holding on to an extremely tainted past and that era isn't something to be proud of.
The reason izzo hates michigan so much is that he was the assistant out there losing on detroit recruits who were getting paid. He was our primary recruited for webber and got a silent commitment from him until uncle ed, watson, and rose got involved.
Wow, a message board poster said that he saw MSU players in a somewhat expensive car in the 90 ' s. I guess that's the same as the biggest pay for play scandal in the history of the sport and the most forfeited games in the NCAA. I can see your point, that's the same thing.sbee,
No clue as to how old you are but when I went to MSU I saw poor hoops players driviing 30K vehicles in the 80s when Jud was coaching. There's no moral equivalence in big time sports...now or beak in the olden days.
