Lions 2019 Draft

If they sign Flowers, get a vet CB and go CB Round 2 and LB round 3, would everyone really hate Hockenson that much. What if he's really really good

Hockenson would be hated from Day 1 with this fanbase , and the first mistake or drop would be raining boo's from the entire stadium . It would be a disastrous pick imo

Youd still have a QB that doesnt utilize his TE...need a reminder....see 4 years of Ebron.

Youd still have the worst LB corps in the league.

R1 Greedy, Kevin White or trade down and target Sweat or Polite to rush off the edge.

Every 1st round TE since 2004:

Hayden Hurst
O.J. Howard
Evan Engram
David Njoku
Eric Ebron
Tyler Eifert
Jermaine Gresham
Brandon Pettigrew
Dustin Keller
Greg Olsen
Vernon Davis
Heath Miller
Kellen Winslow Jr

There are TWO guys on that entire list that I would be happy with and that's knowing their career arc. Now you want to convince me that the Lions are going to be the third team in 15 years to draft a TE worthy of a 1st round pick? Sorry, I don't have that kind of faith in Quinn yet. And I'm one of his bigger supporters.

Fantastic point. And you could probably go back farther. Extremely unlikely to get a first round value out of a TE. The Lions way is to constantly turn over a coaching staff every 2-3 years and want to give them ?toys? to work with. Draft D. Fill the TE gap with a vet while you build a strong defensive unit.

Then draft toys

Thats actually a pretty good list , think it makes the case to draft TE earlier than later . I'd take almost anyone on that list ....But that said i do not want to draft TE at 8 this year , that would be retarded

Id draft Olsen in late 1st round...and id still get burned later in his career when he breaks his foot every 2 games he plays in. The rest rd 2 or later. Ebron will probably end up back in rd 1 after he finally got out of playing with Stafford and can now reach his potential.

Ok. You take those guys in the first. I'll take these guys from the 2nd and 3rd rounds in that same time period:

Hunter Henry
Austin Hooper
Zach Ertz
Travis Kelce
Jordan Reed
Kyle Rudolph
Rob Gronkowski
Jimmy Graham
Jared Cook
Martellus Bennett
Jermichael Finley

And that's only going back to 2008, not 2004 like the list of 1st rounders I made. I don't see how any sane person would be excited about spending a 1st round pick, let alone a top 10 pick, on a TE.

ok this shows that you can get a good TE later in the draft , not sure what you're trying to prove lol ...but i think we all agree that if we go TE in the 1st round in THIS draft , we will storm Ford Field haha

I'm totally against a CB in the first round for us , how many CB actually have been big time players that are drafted early ? Think its a position to address later or even better in FA . Rather go DE or LB

He proved the guys picked in the 2nd and 3rd rounds in the same time period as the first list have all been better than the guys picked in the 1st... I'll take anyone of those TE's over every single one of the guys taken in the 1st. Only questionable one is Olsen better than a few of them? Probably..... But that's it, Olsen is the lone exception....
