Non-Michigan Tourney Games

Good for northwestern. Always really liked them, because how can you hate northwestern? Hope they win it now.

For awhile there the mid majors had figured out a pretty good way to work the RPI. Conferences like the Missouri Valley, Mtn West, A-10, Colonial. The major conferences won't play them unless they have to, so they all played a lot of games against each other. Teams that might be ranked in that 50-100 range, and they all kind of elevated their RPI's that way. It seems like they've gotten away from that.
How much better would college bball be if the major programs cut the bullshit and schedule these good mid-majors?

What a awful play by ksu with a shot to win the game down 1 point. Ksu lead the most of the game to.

Here I am watching some of what should be a great matchup between UCLA and Arizona, and I'm going to have to turn it off and go to bed because really how many minutes can one tolerate of Bill Walton?

Wolverines, there's zero reason to schedule top non-conference competition anymore. Look at some of the teams on the bubble that are going to get in with 13-14 losses. If they would have had even one more loss on their to a good team, they are probably out.

As long as you can balloon your non-conference with easy wins and then finish around .500 in conference play, you are in.

I would say 3 tough non-conference games is the max any team should schedule, though sometimes that's tough to predict with tournaments and whatnot (and also in MSU's case Baylor ended up being a better team than anyone would have predicted).

I do think the mid-majors aren't getting a fair shake and that there's a more of a double standard than there used to be. Even if they do work in non-conference people will point to a couple of bad losses in conference as a reason to keep them out. If a team with Monmouth's non-conference resume last year can't get in, then pretty much nobody is (though I think the committee last year did the worst job of any committee I can remember from who they included to especially the seeding). And then at the other end of it, the high majors can suffer a bad loss or two and everyone ignores that if they pick up a couple of big wins in conference (at home usually).

Gotta be honest, Wisconsin playing at a high level scares me. Going to be a real tall order tomorrow.

That being said, a loss to UW doesn't hurt as much as a loss to NU and a win over UW helps a lot more than a win over NU. I think we can win, but Wilson and Wagner half to be better. Rahkman, too.

Refs in these smaller conferences are just horrible. New Orleans has had 2 fouls called on them resulting in 5 points and the guy never touched the guy he supposedly fouled.

Fun game for next season: drink every time Bill Walton uses the phrase "conference of champions" good freaking lord

Sounds like Big 10 officiating.
