The Official Colorado vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

I think the outcome is the same even if their qb doesn't get hurt, but the score would have been closer. The D needs lewis back badly and to greatly improve on pass coverage. They can't be giving up long passes or OSU and others will burn them over and over and over.

I believe this, also.

So here is what we have............. A sort of new defensive scheme that has seen the Spread in the 1st 2 games and the up-tempo Pistol against CU. We gave up big runs against the Spread and big passes against the Pistol. We were given good looks for the defense. They needed to see these potentially potent styles of offense. It lets them know their vulnerabilities for later dates. I was really happy with the schedule this year because I thought it was needed for the new qb and to get used to Don Browns style. I was right. Speight is slow motion and the defense is in the wrong match ups and out of place at times. This can be corrected with better timing from Speight and better coaching from Don Brown. It is very frustrating to see a 10yd cushion given and the receiver stills blows by D. Thomas into the endzone for a touch pass to the corner. Or the 10yd cushion is given every play and that same receiver keeps getting the ball. Speight throwing the ball late and into double coverage yesterday was killing me. Darboh was covered all day(by a really good corner) yesterday and he still kept trying to get it to him. He was real lucky he didnt get intercepted on a bunch of plays. His throws have to be quicker now(B10 play), with a little more zip or he will be seeing the bench as the year progresses. I still think we need a better athlete(O'Korn) at qb for the OSU game. I hope he proves me wrong.

Had a great time in Ann Arbor this weekend! As I texted Vic during the game, Peppers is a one man wrecking crew for our defense. However, we need Lewis back to make this defense really good to great. Lewis changes everything by taking one side away. We are far better when Stribling or Clark do not have to match up with the other team's #1.

It's a new scheme and I expect we'll see some major improvements throughout the year. Kind of like what we saw with the offense last season.

On another note, I can't successfully bar hop at the same level anymore. I was hurting bad Saturday morning. Between that hangover (puke and rally style), the weather, and a surprise appearance from one of my best friends, I unfortunately missed out on tailgating with Vic. Next time buddy!

one piece of advice/experience from my dad I've taken to heart involved how he saw people change after each class reunion. he said as of the 20 year, nothing had changed; the big drinkers/partiers were still carrying on as though they were 18. but at his 30 year (ie age 48) everything was different. the venue wasn't serving alcohol at all. and nobody went out drinking later, no after parties. he said he was shocked by how many people told him they had knee replacement surgery. i guess the dehydration brought by heavy drinking is particularly hard on the knees. and most of the big drinking crowd had gone totally sober by then, involuntarily, for health reasons.

So what's your point, take the time now to do research and find a top knee surgeon?

I really need to watch the BTN in 60 of this one. Feels like I'm making way too many excuses for Speight. Unfortunately there are just going to be problems if he's facing constant pressure, and the outside guys can't get open. Maybe O'Korn could use his feet to make things happen, maybe it'd be worse. But really, unless the wheels completely fall off, it's a moot point at this stage. No way they make a change now.

Oh I do not drink like I used to at all. I have my party days, but in my heyday it was Thursday - Saturday partying every week. Now I typically drink on Saturdays and special events.

i got distracted and hit send before finishing. I started getting more serious about enforcing the one drink/one water routine on the rare occasions when I can go out and drink more than one. with 2 kids under 3 at home, I don't do much heavy drinking anymore anyway, but I guess my point is that I am more aware of how quickly the party will come to an end if i don't tone things down, and so moderation will be key if I want to drink with my grandkids someday.

short answer: you gotta pace yourself.

I was kinda thinking next you'd post something about how your own personal drinking habits have changed over the years, or your experience with drinking after you have kids, or at least some acknowledgement of my post, like "ah, gotcha. I do/don't agree."

My knees are sore but I figured that was due to walking a few miles across AAGO, standing for 4hours at the game and walking up/down to ROW 12 a few times.

Ha, sorry man, it's definitely not the golden era of my posting career. Very easy to get "distracted" by work or kids for hours at a time.

But yeah, I'm in pretty much the same boat with drinking. We rarely if ever go out to drink. We moved away as well, and I don't know if I'll ever trust a non family member to watch the boys. So when I do drink it's at home and usually just a few high % beers. I'm sure I'd be hurting if I tried to hang like the old days.
