Man if Peralta gets suspended and Worth is still nagged by injury, will they call up Perez from AA or will we get stuck with Santiago/Kelly at 2b and Omar at SS?

that would be a complete mess,

only Eugenio Suarez and Dixon Machado in the minors, in High A or Double AA.

As much as I'd like to see anyone who doped get what they deserve, I have a feeling MLB may have a hard time with these suspensions, the players union is going to fight them pretty hard seeing as most of the players never had a positive test.

I don't think there will be a problem with the suspensions at all. The players are usually in the wrong so I expect quick and painful.

This is a union....without a failed test they will fight it hard. My guess is it takes a lot to get player suspensions without a failed test.

I read this: "These days, the commissioner's office is empowered by baseball's Joint Drug Agreement to suspend players without a positive test. All it needs is proof that they used a banned PED, or possessed one, or did business with someone like Bosch and then lied about it when confronted. "

The union can't do much these days. You won't see them go to Court or hear about appeals. It will be quick and decisive.

Exactly, and no way any player gets 100 games. Look how Braun fought and won on appeal when he actually failed a test. The union wont sit by while players are suspended for associations, and as much as I despise the notion that any of them might have doped (Peralta included), I don't like the idea of players getting disciplined because of "guilt by association".

That's the most naive thing I have read in a long time.

BTW Mitch if you're still espn insider, can you go to page 2200 in the tigers notes and post the story from the link there?

Suspending A-Rod for 100 games could lead to more PED use in baseball.

Mike Schmidt on PED penalties: "I wouldn't be imposed to implementing a 100-game suspension for a first offense and a ban for a second offense."

Opinions? I agree with him. And combine that with random testing for PEDs.
