MLB eliminates 42 MiLB farm teams Now MLB tells teams to provide housing for MiLB

I don't think it's just about the money (but that always plays a part). I just think that MLB realizes that there is no need for an average of 5 minor league teams for every ML club. That's about 125 "prospects" per team. I think they realize that most of those players have no shot at making it to MLB...so why keep/draft that many players?

International baseball has also diluted the MiLB system.

I wonder if the delay has to do with player safety or delaying it so the teams have a better chance to put butts in the seats. My guess is the latter

Unemployment for 43 MiLB teams. Plus some teams that are being removed, Cane County Cougars for example attendance 37th of 160 teams.. Trenton Thunder 36th, others. Some teams that are staying have much less attendance. It effects fans. I'd be bummed if the team I watched regular wasn't there anymore.

As I think about it more I'm not sure I answered your question. Lol.
