NL Playoff Thread

Updated

A few things happened yesterday

Cincinnati and Washington both clinched a playoff spot as they can now finish no worse than Milwaukee (who's closest to the wild card now).

Milwaukee was eliminated from the NL Central

Cincinnati now has a magic number of 2, they can clinch the division tonight if they win and St. Louis loses

The Mets are now officially eliminated from the playoffs

Updated

Both SF and Cincinnati clinched their respective divisions

The only team left that can win their division that's not currently leading is Atlanta, 5.5 back with an elimination number of 6.

Updated

Nothing much changed

Atlanta moved a game closer to Washington

SD could be eliminated tonight

Updated

Atlanta clinches a playoff spot, they are guaranteed to at least get a wild card spot. They aren't out of it yet in the NL east, 4 back with 8 to go

Pittsburgh could be eliminated tonight.

Washington and Cincinnati are now tied for record, however Washington holds the head-to-head advantage and would get the top spot.

St. Louis has increased their lead in the 2nd wild card spot to 4.5 games, their magic number is 4 to clinch a wild card spot.

Updated

St. Louis lost which keeps a couple teams close in the wild card, however the Cardinals magic number is 4 and they still have a 3.5 game lead with 6 games to go.

Atlanta can clinch the first wild card spot tomorrow with a win.

Pittsburgh is officially eliminated from the playoffs and it's looking like their first winning season since 1992 won't happen this season (they would need to finish 6-1 or better).

Updated (assuming LA holds their lead through the 9th)

Atlanta clinches the top WC spot, so they're guaranteed to host the WC game (if they don't win the East)

Atlanta and Philly could be eliminated from the playoffs tomorrow.

Updated

Washington and Cincinnati are tied again, but Washington holds the head-to-head tiebreaker

Arizona and Philly are officially eliminated from the playoffs

Washington could clinch tonight with a win and Atlanta loss

Milwaukee could be eliminated from the playoffs tonight with a loss or St. Louis win

Updated

With another Washington win, they hold their 4 game lead in the NL east and lower their magic number to 1. They could clinch today.

A St. Louis loss and LA win has closed the WC gap to 2 games with 4 left. St. Louis has a magic number of 3.

Updated

Cincinnati and Washington tied again up top

Atlanta still hanging in the NL East, Washington with a magic number of 1

Milwaukee is eliminated from the playoffs

LA is hanging around in the WC, 2 games back and St. Louis has a magic number of 2, which means St. Louis can clinch the final playoff spot if they win tomorrow and LA loses

Updated

Washington clinches the NL east, now all the division winners are set

SF is now locked into the 3rd seed, Atlanta is locked into the first wild card spot

1st and 2nd seed is up for grabs, Washington holds the tie-break over Cincinnati

LA is still hanging around the wild card, the best they can do at this point is tie with St. Louis, which would only occur if LA wins their last 2 and St. Louis loses their last 2. LA holds the homefield tiebreak if they were to tie for the 2nd wild card spot
