I think this is from USA

Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan (2 overall)
Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama (12 overall)
Joshua Paschal, EDGE, Kentucky (46 overall)

It came as no surprise that the Lions took Aidan Hutchinson with the second pick after Travon Walker went first overall to the Jaguars, and though I have Florida State?s Jermaine Johnson II ranked higher as a pure edge defender, Hutchinson?s tape shows all kind of talent as a speed rusher from the outside. The real flash pick in this draft might be Williams, the Alabama blazer who may return to his Tyreek Hill-style play when he recovers from injury. Detroit traded up 20 spots for Williams, and when you watch the tape, you get exactly why they did it.

The Lions weren?t done making great picks, though ? Josh Paschal is a multi-gap disruptor who brings Emmanuel Ogbah to mind, and there aren?t many single-high safeties in this class better than Kerby Joseph. You?d like to have seen some cornerback help here, but the Lions did a lot to improve their team in this draft.

No way. That'd be some serious 'Let pick this guy to sell jerseys to locals' picks. Real homer shit.

Where they went would've meant picking Ojabo or Walker with the 2nd round pick. That's super high for an EDGE that won't play year 1 and a RB that feels like a luxury pick.

Haskins you'd have had to spend a 3rd on.

We were basically top 5 in every major grading outlet. Especially high in PFFs grade. It was obvious we put alot of stock into PFF grades when selecting.

The reviews are in for the Detroit Lions' 2022 NFL Draft class, and they are quite favorable for general manager Brad Holmes and the team's personnel department.

Here is a look at the reviews of the haul brought in by the Lions.

Sports Illustrated

Grade: A

"GM Brad Holmes had us swooning the moment he jumped back into the thick of the first round to land arguably the best wide receiver in the class. He had us blindly supporting any and every future move with the addition of Paschal. As much as we heralded Hutchinson as the consummate Dan Campbell player, Paschal may be the more ideal fit. He can line up in multiple positions and he plays every down like an oversized toddler kicking his way through a playpen full of block towers?it?s pure joy and destruction. The Lions may be the most improved team in the NFL next year by virtue of this class. With one slate of picks, both head coach and quarterback feel supported and pacified. There isn?t much more a GM can do."

"The state of Michigan rejoiced when Hutchinson slipped to No. 2 overall. QB Jared Goff rejoiced at no threat to his job. Echoes of Detroit drafts gone by with a bold receiver pick, trading up 20 spots for the burner Williams."

Grade: A+

"The Lions gladly take the hometown Hutchinson falling into their laps. The Michigan product has been labeled as the ?high floor, lower ceiling? prospect of the top group of edge defenders, but that may be underselling his upside.

Detroit also made a massive move up the board for Williams, who is a game-changing talent when healthy. No one else in this class sniffs Williams? speed or movement skills.

And with two first-rounders at the ready for 2023, probably smart the Lions didn't roll the dice on one of this year's quarterbacks ? opting instead on Day 2 for Kentucky DE Joshua Paschal and Illinois S Kerby Joseph, players who can contribute immediately."

"It's possible the Lions got the best defender available this year at No. 2 in Hutchinson and the best receiver in the draft at No. 12 in Williams. Picking the talented pass-catcher was a bit of a risk, given the draft capital they parted with to trade up for him and the fact that he is coming off an ACL tear. His talent could make the trade look like a shrewd one, however. Paschal and Joseph were solid picks who could contribute right away."

"The Lions were feisty in Year 1 under coach Dan Campbell, but they still won just three games. This is one of the league's worst rosters from top to bottom. That's why I was surprised to see them trade up 20 spots in Round 1 instead of keeping pick Nos. 32 and 34. The draft is such a crapshoot that it's almost always better to take two chances at a top-ranked prospect than one.

At the same time, I love the player they got in Jameson Williams (12), an electric wide receiver who could immediately be Jared Goff's No. 1 target. He's coming off a torn left ACL but should be ready to go by training camp. The trade felt like general manager Brad Holmes forced his way into a big move to fill a need, but Williams is going to be great when he's on the field.

You should know by now my thoughts on edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson (2). The Lions getting my clear top-ranked prospect is a huge win, because he not only fills a void -- they finished 29th in pressure percentage and 30th in sacks last season -- but he's a local kid who wants to play in Detroit."

Right End Hutch. Harris and Julian Okwara behind him. Left End Romeo Okwara with Paschal behind him. And once Paschal adds weight can play 3 tech pass rusher DT too. That means Brockers to DT full time probably more for running downs. Levi the pass rushing DT. McNeil the nose tackle DT when not using two 3 techs like Levi and Brockers. Penisini the backup nose. Makes sense

And Hutch can switch to Left End too in sub packages.

Pretty strong rotation. I think 4 down lineman can help the off ball LBs too.

They even passed on a DT in Jordan Davis. I'm sure he'll be all pro for years and people will be bashing Holmes if that is the case acting like they knew all along Jordan Davis would be an all pro. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN MAN. Undersized Donald was clearly an all pro who a bunch of teams passed on.

The same people who drafted Donald are the same people that traded up for Goff giving up multiple firsts are the same people that traded him for Stafford, who many Lions idiot fans bashed and the same people that traded for Goff. What's the point, nobody fucking knows. You draft talent and develop and hope they stay healthy. Bad news that Jameson is coming off a major injury. Got to have some luck he is a fast healer now too and returns to the MUN form. Is Dotson or Burks gonna be the OBJ in this situation. Need to be a head case though and go to multiple teams in order to be super cheap for the Rams and help them win a Super Bowl.

Inside the Den very telling. They were all in on Hutch, Jameson clearly with the trade, Paschal and Kerby Joseph. Talked about Paschal at 32 or 34 even. Talked Joseph at 46 and got him at 97. Very happy with that draft.

Interesting how much they used ST coach Dave Fipp on day 3 for Rodriguez, Houston, Mitchell picks.

Now the hard work, coaching, execution begins with hopefully good health. Not a great start for Jameson, Mitchell and Paschal health wise but two were known.
 
Many here have said that Jameson Williams is the best WR in this draft. He hasn't played or practiced yet. The others selected have certainly set the bar pretty high.

So far

1. Olave
2. Pickens
3. Wilson

My guess is Olave or Pickens ends up being the best of the draft class
 
Jameson Williams opens the practice window. Practicing in the walkthrough today. Maybe could play by the Jaguars game
