Tigers @ Mariners, Game 90, July 14 2023

Lange gives up a

1-2 pitch homer.

He just isn?t a smart pitcher. That pitch caught so much of the plate it isn?t funny
On that count.

Lange is like Todd Jones or some other closer we have had.

sigh it?s time to try Foley closing.

Lange just isn?t good enough.

Ridiculous. Maybe Shreve should have pitched to the lefty.
Not excited about that . Better then this matchup I think.

Froze him on that pitch. Looking for curve I guess.

Tigers escape the ghost of closers Past Win 5-4 !

Needed the win. Twins scored 2 in the ninth and probably will win in Oakland.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

As the second half of the baseball season starts, let?s take a fresh look at the Tigers.

They spent most of the first half with significant players on the IL. So much so that multiple bullpen days had to be scheduled.

Recently, many of these injured players have been returning to the team. Several starting pitchers and of course, Riley Greene. The team is slowly returning to its original roster.

And in August and/or September, some top prospects will be called up.

However, it is expected that the Tigers will lose at least 1 starting pitcher to the August 1st trade deadline. Probably two. Will they have replacements if that happens?

Given all of this, how are you feeling about the last half of the season?

Are you looking forward to seeing what it brings, curious about what may play out or feeling pessimistic?

What are your feelings about the last half of the Tigers' season?

1. Looking forward to seeing what may happen.

2. Somewhat curious.

3. Feeling pessimistic.

Tigers are undefeated! in half #2

They are 1-0 post all star break.

Since the season is 162 games, the first 1/2 of the season ended after 81 games, which was on 6/30/2023. They were 35-46 after 81 games.

Since the first 1/2 of the games ended, they are 5-4

They do have a winning record during the second 1/2 of the season.

TIGERS WIN!
Maton looked great. At the plate and at second.
Baddoo(HR/BB) outstanding.
Kerry(2R HR) in the first. Beautiful AB and a hot start.
E-Rod looked decent. Holton Excellent.
Lange is not our closer. No Mas Por Favor.
POTG: Maton

I see endless pleading for Kerry Carpenter to face lefties on a more consistent basis..I'm all for it..I would expect the outcome to be ugly..watch Riley face lefties..but if he hit some HR yet had a sub .200 BAA with very few walks will you be OK with that.

I seriously get annoyed with GM?s sometimes.
Trade certain guys when they?re hot.
Schoop should have been dealt in summer 2021 and E-Rod should have been dealt before he had a chance to ruin his numbers.

Cabrera should have been dealt in 2014..JDM should have been dealt in 2016
Seriously..WTF people..I can't explain to you how stupid some of these ideas are..nonwithstanding who was doing the trading.

for all those great Vierling numbers he's hitting
.204 RISP
24 RBI 246 PA

I've never seen anyone hitting 230 with a 713 OPS get a bigger tongue bath than Spencer Torkelson.
