Tigers @ Rays Game #3 (Sunday)

I always said you can't just get rid of a hall of famer in his last years making 35m but no you keep on mentioning the last guy should have gotten rid of him. Harris could have rid this team of Schoop if he wanted. Maybe signed a half way decent player.

Overpaying for a couple veterans right now would be stupid. You really think this team would be any better.

The entire system needs fixing. That doesn't happen in 1 or 2 years.

They need to get Greene, Tork, Carpenter, Kreidler, Maton, Vierling, Badoo, Lipcius, Malloy and Parker Meadows as many looks as possible. If 4-5 of those guys pan out it speeds things up a ton.

he could have easily dumped Schoop if he wanted to. Miggy, that would probably have been more difficult. There are probably still a bunch of dopey people that adore him and would be pissed if the Tigers released him.

Miggy still being on this team is clearly on the owners at this point.

Fewest Runs Scored through 3 games in Detroit Tigers history:

2008 - 5

1951 - 3
1956 - 3

2003 - 2
2019 - 2

1940 they made the World Series and lost to the Reds in 7. Not sure about the rest.

And what would they do with the 35m? Absolutely nothing. Maybe a spot on the 25 but who do we have to help this team?

You clearly don't get what I'm saying so why do you keep responding? Blame Harris, idgaf

Because he added no one. Maybe a future guy down the road, maybe. Terrible terrible offense last year and he keeping things status quo like always because new guys are suppose to rebuild. That's Detroit Motto.. if you stink it's okay to do the same thing because you're new.

So you think adding a couple bats would change things this year? I'd rather he get the guys in the current system the chances and see if we'll have a few cheap options to build around.

Only a fool would add payroll just to add payroll. You could add Trout and Otahni to this team and they'd still suck.

Maybe that's a solution for you. Go be an Angel's fan!

The last guy started adding just to add and now we're stuck with an extremely overpaid shortstop and a starting pitcher that we're praying opts out of his contract.

Just because Avila was a knucklehead doesn't mean you stop improving the team. As far as seeing what we have with the young guys apparently Harris doesn't want to do that - why else does he keep Schoop. Those 26 year olds he picked up will be 27 next season. How often does that work out. There's a reason he was able to get those players. Outside of Green not sure I see one hitter that will have a long term effect on this team.

Can any of you point to a new general manager in recent times that took over a team that was in shambles, dumped their iconic player, and immediately assembled a solid core of a team that showed incredible improvement in the first week of the next season?

Didn?t the 1927 Yankees do that?

They seem to have done something to make people remember them.

I'm certain Schoop is on a very short leash. He hits, they trade him. He doesn't, they cut him. His first 2 seasons were good here. Last year wasn't. I'd personally cut him, but I can somewhat understand it.

The 1926 Yankees went 91-63, and won the pennant. If we look at one of the recent examples of a team bringing in a person to oversee a rehab, perhaps we should look at the Cubs after they hired Theo Epstein. They lost 101 games the next year.

Rays 5 - Tigers 1: Meek offense meets excellent pitching.
You aren?t going to win too many games in Tampa if you only get two hits.
