Offseason Deals and Rumors

Kemp without HGH on the Padres wow! His career is over

But they paid off his entire contract so they got him free for a C who like Avila hit well first year and well hits like Avila does now. And a pitcher who hasn't done anything yet..

Kemp has 5 years and about $109M left on his contract. LA is sending about $31M to SD so the Padres are on the hook for about $79M

LMAO they paid off his entire contract ?? Who would even think this could possibly be true ?

Because I thought there was only two years left, my mistake. Anything else from the master troller?

Oh i get it , yea i can see if he only had 2 years left on his contract how the Dodgers would offer to pay the whole thing . Makes sense now !! LOL

I said that the Padres got the crappy catcher.

The Padres did not get a catcher in return. So I am lost at your original comment. The only catcher to change sides was Grandal.

If you mean they now are resorted to having a crappy catcher instead of Grandal I think you are wrong. Rene Rivera is very capable until Austin Hedges makes the parent club. The jury is out if Hedges will hit enough, but he is an elite defensive catcher.

the story I read said the Padres are getting a catcher back as well.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed on a trade that will send Matt Kemp to the San Diego Padres, a Padres official confirmed to ESPN.com.

Los Angeles will receive catcher Yasmani Grandal, pitcher Joe Wieland and another prospect, the source said, while the Padres get Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz.

This kind of makes sense for the Padres. It is like when the Tigers got Pudge. Teams have to overpay when no one wants to sign with them, or in the Padres case, they have to take on Kemp's bad contract to improve their team

I am glad that the Tigers didn't take on the Kemp contract. He was a five tool player when he signed it, now he looks more like Victor Martinez.

Nobody wanted Kemp ? Hes one of the premier outfielders in the game , his contract is actually very friendly considering some of the deals we are seeing and the Dodgers are paying 32 million of it . You realize injuries had slowed him down but last year he proved he is back . Id love to have him on my team .

Porcello for a healthy Kemp would have been ok with me.

Yeah, I'd have taken Kemp over Cespedes 100 times out of 100, especially with LA kicking in money. No idea why SD traded for him, they needed more than just one bat.

Kemp is a beast. The idea that nobody wanted him is ludicrous.

The only problem I could have seen is how well his ego would play taking a back seat to Miggy and Vmart.

Still, I wonder if McCaan or Avila and and a pitcher would have gotten him. Have to believe LA would have rather not traded him in division.

I had heard Price for Kemp a few times before all this happened , guess that never amounted to anything . I woulda loved to get him

Melky Cabrera to the white sox. They have to be the team to beat now in the central. Having a great offseason

Det, Cle, KC and Sox should all be pretty close together this year. Should be a competitive division.

Their offense and SP are still not quite as good as ours. KC still concerns me more than they do, KC needs one SP to go with a lights out bullpen, and a solid lineup from top to bottom.

Things will defiantly be tighter in the ALC this year.

Rays have gone crazy and talking about trading Myers to SD. If he is traded no way Zobrist will be on that team opening day.

How nice would it be to have Zobrist as your super utility man on the tigers. Could get a ton of playing time around the diamond.
