2026 Trade Deadline - Skubal to dodgers - Mize to padres

I think the Tigers played it well except not trading him before the season. Skubal is all about the money and the contract he will get will hamper his next team. Boras wanted the Tigers to start the bidding war between teams and they didn’t play along. I think Harris soured on Boras during the Bregman talks. I liked Skubal as a player here but he will never be a fan favorite in Detroit. His boys trip seemed so fake at the time and looks even worse now. He’s simply all about himself, not the team, teammates, fans or the city. I will treat him like Stafford and Larkin, hope they lose every game.

It was not this year . After his first cy young. So make a count offer see if the tigers would get near it . It was pretty clear Skubal and his agent wanted free agency.
even then, it was a low ball offer. As far as it being clear that they wanted to hit free agency, that is within their right to do so. Nothing wrong with that. Knowing that, Harris should have traded him last off season...but I am beating a dead horse now!

THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers lost 2 of their starting pitchers at the trade deadline – Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize.
They currently have a rotation including Troy Melton who has the best stats by far – including ERA, WHIP, wins – of any starter, including Tarik Skubal.
Keider Montero has stats similar to Skubal and Mize. Framber Valdez rounds out the remaining rotation.
This weekend, Jackson Jobe returns to the rotation. Next week, Jack Flaherty is expected back and Drew Anderson is being transitioned to the rotation.
River Ryan, acquired in the Skubal trade, is believed to be making his debut later this month.
Did the trades of Skubal and Mize impact the rotation? If so, how much?

How much will the trades of Skubal and Mize impact the starting rotation?

1. The trades will be a significant hit to the rotation.

2. The trades will have minimal impact on the rotation.

3. Trades will have almost no impact and could possibly deliver a stronger rotation.

I don't see how you can think that it won't have a significant impact.

Im not sure on the vote. I sure hope it works out. I would held out for Sirota or Tibbs. but that is me. I can’t find Sirota . Tibbs is raking last two games. Oh well hopefully Hope works out. Last Game Sirota played was Sunday. Maybe he was promoted to Oklahoma. Didnt see him there either in the box.

3 ways the Tigers could (and should have) improved Tarik Skubal-Dodgers trade package.
Detroit landed Zyhir Hope, River Ryan, and Brady Smith for an expiring Tarik Skubal. But was it enough?
MCBTB

When I read stuff like this, I am pissed with Harris even more.

Now that Scott Harris' traded Skubal, here's what should be next:
Max Clark extension: 8 years, $125M
Riley Greene: 5 year, $105M
$83M coming off the books between Kenley, Skubal, Gleyber, and Flaherty.
No reason they can't get multiple extensions done this offseason.
