Clowney's Hit

When I went back and watched the video again it didn't look like Clowney led with the crown of his helmet, but the photos Jever posted show that he did. Weren't both plays reviewed upstairs? I thought the spot on the 1st down must have been bad, and after the review it was confirmed as a 1st down. I guess they didn't review the hit on Smith, just the fumble. Can the video ref call a penalty that isn't called by a ref on the field?

Ah well, the great thing is that Michigan fans can move on to root for the BB team. What does SC have until next football season? Nothing.

GO BLUE!

I wish there were better still pics of it because it happened so fast. Initial contact was definately with the crown of his head then he snaped his head up quickly. I would love to see moment of impact from the other angle than the pics I posted. I've paused it on the video and it looks pretty clear. Any technically savy people out there with nothing better to do? Lol.

Hit didn't look like it phased Vincent Smith. Seriously. Don't get me wrong, it was a big hit but Vincent just kinda got up and walked off like a boss.

...and that would have been GREAT if he didn't fumble. I know that's easier said than done, and I'm glad he walked off like no big deal, but that fumble obviously hurt.

I was also a bit disappointed he fumbled there, and furthermore that we lost this game, but I'm over it now.

Even after the fumble and following TD, Michigan came back to take the lead in the game. The game was lost by the D secondary in the last seconds. The failure of the rush to get to the QB at least twice also contributed.

I too am disappointed that we lost, but still it was not a loss like the one to Miss. State. I can take this one and look forward to next year. The loss to Miss State was embarrassing and demanded a change in coaching. But I guess there must be something wrong with me because I don't feel the least bit "stunned" by the loss to SC as ESPN says I should be.

As a fan of ND, I was really impressed by that play. Missed assignment or not, it was a devastating hit and couldn't have been made at a better time. SC was about to implode due to the questionable call, and he stepped up and made a play.

Top 5 defensive play of the year IMO..but not an all time great play.

Anyways, just my opinion.

that's why play action here would've been a better call...in my opinion anyway

watched A&M do that last night right after a questionable call went their way. Funny thing was, a d-lineman blew up the play and smashed the RB...unfortunately for him, the RB didn't even have the ball and Manziel took off for like 30 yards...no one even talked about the RB getting his head taken off in that game...If DG keeps the ball there, he probably has a wide open field to the right to either run or pass, Vincent Smith gets smashed, but he wouldn't have had the ball, but you can never tell what would've happened after that, I guess.

That play was ****ing awesome. And your thoughts were exactly mine when that happened. They didn't say one thing about the running back getting blown up. I'll tell you what, though, Manziel is the fastest QB i've ever seen from 0-10yds. The dude is amazingly quick.

he's deceptive

Wonder if teams will start keying on him like they did Denard and shut him down. Next year he might not be as successful as he was this year. Though the A&M O line looks huge, so they may be able o provide more protections than what Denard ever had.

Johnny can actually pass so defenses can't just key on his running like they could Denard. Plus having an amazing Oline helps.
