MIchigan vs Cleveland State

Sloppy 2nd half but game was over already. We played well and the starters did get rest.

second half was sloppy
need to work on that

csu not as strong as they have been in the past

iwas a bit bored and tired

funny to follow zach's tweets. he stayed upmin the netherlands to watch was actively tweeting

WE will get more of a challenge when we play pit on the 21st and if we win that we would probably play Kansas St for the title.

Yah, the commentators were irritating me, as usual. They kept saying over and over how Michigan wasn't playing as well in the 2nd half. Well, duh!! WHen you go up 42-14 at halftime, you tend to come in a little less intense in the 2nd half. I'm sure they could've stepped it up if they had to.

Yep, my buddy who is an MSU fan was saying the other day, "Damn, we get UConn and Kansas, you guys get Slippery Rock and IUPUI." I told him not to worry, because now MIchigan gets to play Pitt, Kansas State or UVA, and then NC St.

It was good to see Bielfeldt do some things. I'm sure there will be a point this year when he plays some important minutes. He's a little undersized, but it looks like he could be serviceable.

Stauskus is UM's best shooter since $weet Lou.

Hell of a Thanksgiving weekend shaping up. UM-Pitt to kick it off Wednesday night, hopefully the NIT Championship on Friday, then The Game on Saturday.

Are you saying this because you believe it or are you with me in wondering how this guy fits on this team? He looks like he could have trouble finding minutes on this team. If JB continues to be able to recruit like he did this year (Albrecht, GR3, Stauskus, and McGary) then he might have trouble finding minutes his entire career here at Michigan. I'm trying to not be negative about the guy, but he just doesn't seem to fit with that caliber of athlete. Maybe I'm not giving him a chance. I guess we'll see.

Its early, but I kind of felt the same way looking at LaVert. They both seem to be throwbacks to JB's early days of recruiting at Michigan. That turned out fairly well with Novak, Douglass, and Vogrich, but those 3 would have trouble finding PT on this team going forward with the talent they have as freshman this season and hopefully coming in the next couple of seasons.

I guess having guys like LaVert and Bielfeldt struggling to get PT is a good problem for us fans to have, but it might, also, seem to be a waste of a scholarship. I'd never say something this on the ESPN boards, but these are a little more private.

The only reason Lavert isnt playing is they want to red shirt him. That was the plan for him all along. He did do some good things in the exhibition games though.

I don't think there's any doubt that Bielfeldt is a clear notch below the talent level of recent and current recruits, and agree he probably won't see a ton of time throughout his career, but I don't have a problem with him being on the roster. I really do think he'll play some meaningful minutes this year whether it's due to fouls or injury. There are going to be some (many?) teams where it's a better idea to bring him in as the 4th big man over McLimans.

I really don't know about LeVert yet...if the preseason buzz is to be believed he has a lot of potential, but I definitely didn't see enough to pass judgment. As far as the overall philosophy goes though, if Beilein does continue to recruit guys that are only going to stay for a year or two I don't have a problem with sprinkling in 4-year guys from time to time. You need to have some continuity and with Beilein's eye for talent, I don't doubt that guys like Bielfeldt and LeVert will be beneficial to the program as upperclassmen in more ways than just providing experience and leadership.

Whose minutes would he be taking if they didn't RS him? If he was good enough to play they wouldn't redshirt him.

I'm sure they'd love to redshirt GR3, Stauskus, McGary, and Albrecht, but they can't...

I really dont know lol. Its a good issue to have. Have we had a team since the Fab 5 where we had 3 NBA type players on the floor? And really there may be more than 3 but the sure fire 3 are Burke. TH2. and GRIII.

I looked at the minutes Burke played last year. He only had 9 games in the entire season in which he played less than 35 minutes a game. He averaged almost 37 a game. One game he played 40 and one 45. He already has been under 35 in every game this year. I know they were all blowouts but even last year he never had 3 games in a row where he was under 35 minutes.

Fairly certain that McGary will be in the NBA at some point.

Yep. It was definitely important to bring in Albrecht whether or not Burke went pro.

That is one of the things with LaVert, I think. He would be needed if Burke had went pro, but since Burke hung out, they can now redshirt him. I just don't know how that will work out in the long run. Not really something for us to fret about, but what else are we going to talk about?

Who's the best dunker on the team?

Closest we got was with Bullock, Traylor, and Taylor together in 96-97. Quite a drought.

Yeah, I was looking at his game log the other day. That stretch at the end of the season was brutal.

It makes sense when you log at the log why when the postseason started this team just looked beat up and exhausted. We should have lost to Minny in the B10 Tourney. They gave all they had to get where they were and had nothing left.
