Hock to the Vikings

It was either move on, pay him top 5 TE money or lose him for nothing. I?ll take the second 2nd rounder happily.

they would probably get a 3rd round comp pick if he left for FA.

This does help them tank for the #1 pick though.

But you are right...better than just a comp pick

We don't get a comp pick if we are active in FA. He wouldn't leave until 2024 offseason so the comp wouldn't come until 2025. This is better than that but mid to late 2nd round value overall is not good value for him and 2 million cap space and 10 million more in space in 2023. Lions needed more. Holmes better nail that 2nd round pick and 3rd in 2024

oh...I thought he was a FA after this season.

Too many Chubb's.

The Chicago Bears acquired WR Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick

They were rebuilding, traded some players and now Chicago gave up a 2nd for a WR.

2nd rounder and $10mil cap space in 2023(hopefully used on defense). What else could we want for him on a rebuilding team. A+ trade in my opinion.

Great trade for Chicago. They need some weapons around Fields moving forward.

I thought the wideout did well in his 1st season especially with those 9 TD, this season his step is a step back. I rather use that 2nd and get a WR.

Lions never do anything right. I?m sure this will fail to. Kicking the can down the road. This is what the lions management does. Clueless owners.

They basically traded Hock for an early-mid 3rd round pick, in value. Did anyone seriously expect near original pick value in return for Hock? Ertz fetched a 6th round rookie and 5th round pick last year.

I?m just glad they don?t lose him for nothing now, also won?t be overpaying now to re-sign a slightly above average TE.

Luckily we don't have to worry about Hock torching our defense on December 11th. Our defense is rock solid!!!

TE's aren't going to get as much as WR even if similar production.

I think this trade was more about evaluating Justin Fields than getting Claypool. The current Bears front office didn't draft Fields. They know he has nothing to work with. I think they got him another WR so they can evaluate if he is the guy they want to move forward with.
