2022 Mid Terms

0-9. The children will have to reach out to the adults in Congress to get a Speaker. Meaning the democracy hating Republicans need the Dems to save them from their own America hating Freedom Caucus who appear to want to default on our debt and send the entire world economy into chaos as their line in the sand.

Why do people vote for these traitorous and dangerous clown Republicans who literally want to burn the country down in a tantrum?

So you?re saying the more mainstream Republicans hate democracy, but their current opponents to the choice of McCarthy hate America?

You may not be aware of this, but every single Republican in the House of Representatives, just like every single Democrat in the house of representatives, is there because they were elected in a democratic election. Because democracy. So saying they hate democracy, kind of that dog don?t hunt.

Also, it was the Black Lives Matter crowd that tried to burn the country down, and they seemed to be getting a good bit of empathy from Democrats. Then vice presidential candidate Harris literally wanted to start a fund to bail those terrorists out of jail.

There were a few Trump loving terrorists, who tried to burn the Capitol that one day. Those terrorist should all be locked up with the Black Lives Matter terrorists and throw away.

Anyway, not much good has ever come out of the house of representatives, doesn?t matter which party is in charge. They can just keep on staying closed forever for all I care.

Meanwhile it was libtard mouth foamers that actually did burn half the country down not that long ago.

Oh. I hadn?t read your post before I made the post I just made. I had actually been working on it for a while but I have to stop when I have business to attend to.

Anyway, good point.

I guess Gaetz didn?t go to prison after all.

Maybe the allegations really were bogus.

Let's hope so. Nobody should be excited that a minor was sexualy exploited, no matter how your politics differ. I think Gaetz is a tool, but I like that much more than a pedophile as well.

where voting your conscience = traitorous and dangerous, anti-democratic America hating. This is so monumentally stupid, one would think it has to be intentional, yet it seems to come so naturally for some.

From what I've read, I was under the impression they were looking for concessions and committee spots. They're not against McCarthy, they just want something in return. Just looking at the names of the dissenters, it's your usual list of Trumpers and grifters. I'm shocked Marjorie Trailer Queen wasn't on that list as it seems others in this thread were as well.

Which half was that? Or are you just being extremely hyperbolic as usual?

Also, this was pretty ironic the day before Jan 6th. You could've really hit it out of the park had you waited until tomorrow.

Also, if FDR got another 4 years, this country would be in far worse shape than it is considering his policies delayed recovery from the Great Depression by 7 years or more and he's the moron who put on this path to an ever-expanding big government, welfare state.

Maybe.

Who knows?

It isn?t discussed much, but apparently Hoover was significantly expanding the role of the government during the depression also.

Who knows what Hoover might have done if he had continued to have been president? He might?ve done the same things as Roosevelt.

Republican George Bush certainly did some stupid shit during the financial crisis of 2008.

That said, it?s not much of a surprise that Hoover didn?t win, because, you know, the great depression, and stuff.

If they aren't careful there going to end up with Rhino's switching to Jeffires and fk us all

That might actually be the solution.

Nothing unites Republicans more than being against a democratic leader on everything.

I?ve only seen Gates and Chip Roy and both of them only talked about issues like spending and the border and doing what voters want them to do. The only mentions of demands for committee positions have come from the media and MC with no specifics - just that they?re looking for something in return for their votes. If that?s spending cuts, investigating hunter Biden, a secure border and/or other things I care about then I?m all for it. Even if it?s for a committee position, if that position helps them achieve those objectives, I?m ok with that too.

Saw a stat yesterday that says Republicans under McCarthy voted with Dems 42% of the time while Dems under Pelosi have voted with Republicans 7% of the time.

Oh.

Well I thought it was a funny line anyway.

I heard Ann Coulter on the radio yesterday saying she?s glad McCarthy is having a hard time and hoping that he?ll lose because Trump has endorsed him, and it will be one more loss for a Trump endorsed candidate.

I thought that was pretty funny too.

I generally think Ann Coulter is pretty funny.

Ann seems to be a little bit like fate though.

There's still 20 days or so before the swearing in of representatives. So what's the rumpus about a delay in choosing the speaker? Seems to me this is one example where the legislative process is actually working like it should. And some people here are losing their minds over it. But all this kabuki can't obscure the fact that government is not reason and never will be. Yet millions of Americans would follow it over the cliff and have.

I'm not so sure you have to take the win and get on with it. I think a little push back and in-fighting is probably a good thing. McCarthy is at least partly responsible for passing the unpaid for 1.7T omnibus bill. He's one of those establishment Republicans doing the bidding of special and his own interests. As a conservative, I like the fact that certain Republicans are standing up against the swamp critters. I think a little challenge to the establishment is a good thing.

If low information morons like think that's a sign that the party is dysfunctional and bound to crumble because unlike the Dems, they don't all fall in line and vote lock step with their overlords (particularly when those overlords are some of the dumbest people on the planet like Pelosi and Biden), i'm fine with that too. Democrats are such sheep, they'll turn out in droves to vote for a mentally disabled stroke victim who was a complete failure as mayor of a town of less than 5k people and is obviously racist - the guy once held a black man at gunpoint until police arrived for the crime of jogging through his neighborhood.

Okay.

You are making good points.

We?ve I think agreed that certain Chamber of Commerce Republicans have paid the same lip service to border security (here?s a hint for you liberals - it?s the hated Koch brother backed Republicans that actually make Buck look like a border control obsessive) that Democrats have paid to civil rights.

In #461, I made the point that I can live for the rest of my life without the house of representatives ever opening up again.

I just read a point that a very wise person, byco, was saying ostensibly ?what?s the rush??

John Phillips, who hosts the John Phillips show on KABC 790, who was an out Trump supporting Republican, ain?t a big fan of Kevin McCarthy, is kind of enjoying this, possibly as much as Johnny2x2.

So cool. Count me on board for the fun and frivolity.

In a shocking twist. The same anti American scumbags who tried to destroy our Democracy on January 6th 2 years ago are really shitty at trying to run a major part of our democracy. Shocking!

Yeah.

Your redundancy in your attempts at humor are getting stale.

I?m not gonna lie - I actually went along with you when your takes were fresh.

Now you?re gone to hyperbolic then to super hyperbolic to super duper hyperbolic.

Not that I?m the judge of what?s funny on this board.

That said, I recommend you pay attention to sgg.

He takes it straight down the middle.

Where satire belongs.

EDIT: Hmmm. Some normal operations do not seem to be happening on this board.

I'll start out by saying that we're the ones who are supposed to be running things, not them. And we're not. In fact, they aren't even running things. That's the problem. More to come later when I'm sitting in front of an actual keyboard.

MORE: It's not anti-American to express dissent. And these 20 legislators are following procedure as written. Having read the terms of this "Freedom Caucus" they seem rather benign. Procure a budget? Eliminate earmarks? End "Secret Deals Behind Closed Doors?" so that bills are actually read and debated rather than passed with same-day "efficiency"? Identify what laws are being changed by new legislation? Enact a 120-hour buffer for legislation to be reviewed before it goes to the floor for a vote, with a contingency of a 2/3 vote by the house to waive the rule? Revert to the House Rules of that ancient year of ... 2019?

Hardly the efforts of "scumbags." Maybe we should be considering why the opposition on both sides of the so-called aisle is so fierce and forceful. I can speculate; it minimizes their power and influence and compromises their state of obligation to those who actually are in charge, of which I have already mentioned. Seems to me that these 20 are trying to actually restore our republic rather than raze it, and the elephants and donkeys in the room are trumpeting and braying their discontent to surrender their status as privileged puppets of the global cabal you can't or won't acknowledge.

Apparently the record is 44 rounds in 1850 or something, let's break the record and get 45 in at round 45.

You're starting to sound pretty radical.

So 2 years after they didn't want to transfer power to the democrats they can't even properly transfer power to themselves?

So 2 years after they didn't want to transfer power to the democrats they can't even properly transfer power to themselves?

When a large contingent of Republican House representatives are actually Democrats in designer suits, and a small collection of Republicans are closer to actual Republicans, this question you pose is moot.

I agree. "What's the rush?" is basically what I was saying the in the post you quoted. Pay attention to what's actually going on and let the process play out. When you dig into the actual details instead of reading headlines, you see the "dissidents" aren't asking for what we're being told they're asking for. What they're actually asking for would benefit all Americans, not themselves, not just their constituents or even just their party.

So they're actually doing what they were elected to do but again, to low information automatons, they're bigoted, anti-democracy America haters as opposed to the people who are constantly telling you America and all of its institutions are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and they need to be torn down and rebuilt in a socialist, utopian manner that guarantees equality of outcome - those people are the real Americans. It's like my good friend used to say when I would wonder how something so bizarre could happen, "Spartanmack, humans beings are so fucking stupid."
