2020 - 2021 Free Agents and Offseason Moves

For the 2021 season, the Detroit Tigers ranked #8 in the amount of payroll cut from the previous season. The average MLB reduction is $31 mill. The Tigers cut over $40 million.

2021 payroll is at $72M which ranks 24th in the league. Surprisingly, the Indians are last with a payroll of $38M.

Rest of the central
KC #20 $82M
MN # 16 $117M

Dodgers #1 with $238M, $200M more than the Indians.

Indians are still better than us. Going to be another banner season in Tiger town.

you are probably right.

Even without Miggy's $30M contact, the Indians would still have a lower payroll than the Tigers

Indians $38M
Tigers $42M (without Miggy)

at least the rebuild might start to be fun soon, we could see some steps forward from Mize and SKubal, see Manning debut. Of course we need position player talent but Greene and Torkelson are a year or more away. the plan would likely to be able to put a mildly entertaining product out there this year and then hopefully start to spend in 2022 (if there is a season)

So far their offense appears to be as bad if not worse than ever this spring, if the team somehow avoids losing 100+ games this year, then it will likely be b/c of pitching. After starting 6-2 they have gone 2-8 over the past 10 Grapefruit League games. And yeah, I know that the abbreviated '20 season really screwed with their recent positional draft picks development in the minors....but so it did to every other MiLB team.

It's ST who cares. On the hand the team will stink what were you expecting? The best thing that happened was when the Braves claimed Demeritte.

The 2021 baseball season has started! Despite the lowered fan attendance, it appears that this year will usher in the return of the normal season.
The Tigers have a full season as well as a new manager, coaches and players. The youngsters are starting to come up. And while it?s expected the team won?t be significantly better this year, there are finally some interesting story lines.

FIVE OF A KIND.

Five outfielders.

It was a subject of lengthy discussion held in Lakeland as the Tigers got closer and closer to Opening Day. Should they carry 5 outfielders or keep it to 4 and carry another pitcher?
At the time, it was actually a difficult decision as the team wanted to bring the best possible roster to Detroit.
The names? Oh, they were important ? all of them. So it seemed.

Let?s take a look.....
