Bo Knew About Anderson

Oh really?

Thanks for letting me know.

Because I thought you were specifically saying they had all had a direct conversation the Devil Himself.
Sometimes you just don't know if someone picks it up or not.

Right.

The first sentence in my response in post #58 was/is a convention known as deadpan.

Sometimes you just don?t know if someone picks it up or not.

I've expressed my opinion on this topic as much as I will, with one more statement: We have an immortal soul that was never meant to be tarnished. We were intentionally created as individuals (Jeremiah 1:5) to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, and not to exploit each other for temporal pleasure.

Women in the 70s were often blamed when assaulted -- too open, too inviting, too risque with clothing. "Rape" as a term was likened to a guy "not taking No" because in the 70's "No" meant ...Yes, really, or so it was said.

I don't condone anything, but the generational transition from men of Bo's era in positions like his to those in the same positions today should be recognized.

My 7th grade Principal (each grade in Jr High had its own Principal for the three yrs) was said to be inappropriate with the girls ...touching and hovering and allegedly feeling up some.

Not long after those rumors were around, Mr Bates was put on leave. The story evolved to one where he was drinking heavily at the school, had a significant problem and was removed. That was 1986. So somebody then knew enough to stop him, but it was said he'd been doing it for years and the student 'turnover' was part of the plan. The girls move on to High School, have some rumors about Mr Bates and he rolls down to the new, incoming 7th grade class.

disgusting

As for the sex workers I've known. One was a 'Molly Maid' in the mountains and took a job at the main Denver strip club (Shotgun Willie's where a man was stabbed two weeks ago). She began to make six figures in largely unreported cash income. From the club, she got exposure as "Holly" and was included in their annual pin up Calendar. The notoriety from the Calendar (after a couple years) landed her a job on Denver's KBPI (metal/rock) morning Drive Time radio, "Willie B & Missy" (Google it). In that role, she was a bit of a celebrity locally and did 'guest appearances' as "Holly." Eventually the radio gig ran its course and she went back into the 'private sector' where she began helping some of the other dancers she knew try to get exposure the way she did, beyond the windowless walls of the strip club.

Last I heard, she was a bit of a Boss and in the GFE realm, where she and the escorts she manages, make thousands of dollars on a weekly basis. They all have incredibly nice cars and apartments/houses paid in CASH. They work a regular clientele - successful, middle-aged and married Men who pay for their companionship.

Now I can't explain the motivation for wanting to be part of such an industry aside from the money part. Missy was super poor, never had much of a father in her life and was stunning at the age of 18 and parleyed that into a relative fortune.

Last time I saw her, I was leaving a business lunch at Cherry Creek Grille in Denver's North Cherry Creek. While I and a couple investment managers were making our way through the dining room, there was Missy at a table with another young woman and what looked to be a 'businessman.' She looked up and did a quick double-take as we caught eyes and she slyly smiled.

Fucking Missy. I know she has no regrets whatsoever now, nearing 40, and don't even get me started on the Broncos players and Nuggets players who she mingled with over the years ...that's a whole other story, but yet another motivating factor for her.

Oh, right, Mike Cox - even better.

I guess he was kind of a big deal in Michigan Republican politics.

Mike Cox doesn?t apply that well to the first person possessive pronoun, unless one were referring to the collective Cox of say a football team - then Mike Cox fits just fine.

The same could be said the half Chinese half German Mai Butolz.

I know you have been an investigative journalist ? you have told stories of investigative videography from back in the day.

it could also apply as shorthand for the little person that sits at the back of the boat and tells other people to row.

The parents probably aren?t - so what?

I never considered porn when I came to Hollywood because it?s something I would never have done while my parents were alive, and now that they?re gone I?m too old.

But that?s everybody?s personal decision to make for themself.

don't they have a genre for that - old people porn?

So it appears that you see no connection or interdependency between sex trafficking and pornography.

I doubt people grow up aspiring to this ?profession.?

That person you are addressing is someone?s daughter or son. I would not expect the parents to be very comfortable with their kids? line of work. Would you, if your child was involved in it?

I prefer to label their (and my own) position as ?pro-dignity of the human person.? Pornography reduces people to mere objects. It?s intrinsically harmful to all who participate.

porn addiction is a growing problem among young men today. Along with the decreased social interaction from the proliferation of technology, it's leading to a generation of men who have no clue how to interact with women who also believe women want to be treated the way they see them treated in porn. I've been hearing more and more about this from my sisters who have sons and daughters in their late teens and early 20s so they're way more in tune with it than we are - our kids are much younger, so we were completely unaware but it's becoming a big issue.

Getting back to the original topic, where were the healthcare professional colleagues of these sick criminals? No way other doctors, nurses, etc. weren't aware that something was not right. Wasn't Nasar sought out by athletes (or their trainers) for his skill at treating their injuries? Didn't he give seminars at professional meetings? He was well known and not hiding in some filthy clinic preying on the unfortunates who stumbled into his office. Same for Anderson, he wasn't hiding. Same for Sandusky. ETC.......

I saw some screenshots of it.

I didn't see anything unexpected in the testimony; the allegations were already out there. It does all look a lot worse in the full context though, and when you see there were obviously enough allegations out there that all the coaches knew what was going on and either thought it was funny or thought it "built character."

I guess all I can say is I am glad we as a society are evolving. And I am starting to appreciate how rare it is for people in an institution (a company, team, university, large corporation, etc) to take a moral stand, ever.

Bo probably acted the same way most head coaches would from his era, which is the problem. The culture back then was pretty pathetic. Most HCs acted as some moral authority, but when the rubber hit the road with things like sexual assault, they did jack shit to prevent the continuation of abuse. Bo could have stopped Anderson at the drop of the hat. He had all the power in the AD and he did nothing. It's not as if he wasn't completely aware. Hell, position coaches were openly using the threat of visiting Dr. Anderson as "motiviation". It was a failure by Bo, the entire coaching staff, and the AD as a whole.

Not saying that Bo is some embodiment of evil, but he should not be lionized on campus. There's no reason to keep up his statue or to keep the name Schembechler Hall.

I agree; the same goes for many other statues.

we don't necessarily have to condemn people like Bo as particularly bad, or judge them solely by today's standards, but we shouldn't honor them either.

But that being said, that "toughen up" attitude is really twisted when you consider it's in the context of blaming the younger victim for being sexually assaulted by a creepy older man.

All it takes is one person to stand up and call that behavior out, and again, it's shocking to me how rarely that happens in our own society.

Bo's son, Matt Schembechler, told Bo that Anderson was abusing him when he was 10 years old. How the hell do you do nothing in that situation? Unbelievably pathetic as a father and a person who held a ton of power with the university. Fuck Bo.

There are actual people that were abused by that turd doctor, but there are going to be tons in it for just a money grab and that is just as sickening (getting paid off the backs of actual victims). I hope Matt isn't one of them. He did sue the University and his own father back in '99.

Edit: I don't know if they are alive, but Bo had 3 other kids, maybe one of them will come forward with a similar story or call BS. I guess this will all play out.

It's actually really rare for someone to lie about sexual abuse and make false allegations. Go through any of these articles and see the stats https://www.google.com/search?q=it'...print-us-revc&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=Utf-8.

Most land on 2-8%. Even those numbers need a closer look. Reports can be labeled false for a huge range of reasons. That includes situations where there's not enough evidence to support the report, or when police have decided the person isn't credible, or if a report has been made on behalf of a victim - and then the victim doesn't want to pursue it in the criminal justice system.

The '99 lawsuit was unrelated to this. from the Freep article:
In January 1999, Matt Schembechler sued his father, U-M, campus police and school officials after he claimed they sabotaged his efforts to make souvenirs from discarded stadium bleachers. The lawsuit was thrown out in federal court a few months later.

regardless I don't agree there are "tons" of people that join these sort of things for money. Where are you getting that from? In Penn State, there were a handful of documented victims. every case I saw in the report were from Michigan alumni/athletes that would have to prove they attended the university at those times and substantiate the record that way.

It's not like joining a class action by clicking a box and waiting for your $10 check in the mail. These people have to testify, and swear to the truth that they were sexually abused. Who would make up that sort of stigma?

Plus you have to figure the average middle-aged Michigan alum doesn't need the money that bad.

It would seem evident that Bo and Matt did not have the most ideal relationship, or apparently even an average one. I can easily picture Bo not being the best father, whether from his coaching duties keeping him away from the kids or his authoritarian coaching style carrying over into the home.
