Game 15: Bucs @ Lions *Saturday* Thread

That defense allowed 24 in the playoffs and vouldnt stop rodgers in week 17. Plus worst reffing ever in thst playoff game

They won 11 games. Stafford did his part..you forget he had lombardi as oc that year too

He just needs average..usually he gets terrible in most categories.

And you dont realize rodgers only ever won super bowl with 2nd ranked defense in 2010

What happened to your hole-less idea.

Injuries sometime..good players not doing what they are supposed to. Can be holeless preseason then have injuries and unexpected holes..or just bad coaching

Lombardi and Prince and Patricia defenses and maybe patricia causing conservative offense too. Gunther had his problems too and linehan didnt coach up weapons yo avoid turnovers. Stafford better once Caldwell helped him. And Cooter was great until patricia muzzled him

He had one of the NFL's best defenses one year, didn't do anything with it.

He had one of the highest rated PFF O-lines another year, didn't win.

One season, all we needed him to do was win 1 game out of the final 3, he couldn't do it.

He needs WAY more than that. Someone with a career 89 passer rating puts him in the upper-average ranking of QBs. He's a long way away from being elite. His TD/INT ratio is shit compared to the greats.

I know you love this guy. You aren't the only one. But that's what this franchise has done. it makes people defend him for some reason.

Lmao when your argument is he had a good defense ONE year you should just stop there. Also for the people comparing him to Aaron fucking Rodgers. He is not, he will never be, just like most of the league will never be. Don?t understand why that?s the benchmark.

Oh NOOOOOO not 24 points! God forbid Stafford has to score more than 24 points!

Well the defense looked great helping build a 20-7 lead. Also got almost 200 total yards from the rbs. Staffords 3 2nd half turnovers played a huge part in losing that game.

Stafford is great enough. Hof level

There are currently 26 modern day QBs in the HOF. There are only 5 QBs in the HOF that never won a SB.

Dan Fouts: 3 playoff wins
Jim Kelly: 9 playoff wins
Dan Marino: 8 playoff wins
Warren Moon: 3 playoff wins
Fran Tarkenton: 6 playoff wins

Matt Stafford: 0 playoff wins

"Stafford just needs an average defense to win a super bowl"

(Provides example of when he did have an elite defense and team still didn't win)

??????????

I don't get it. I don't get why a large chunk of the fan base will bend over backwards for this dude. Statistically, he's above average. Puts up a lot of yards but has a pretty average TD/INT ratio and passer rating on his career. He's had several pretty solid teams over his career and still couldn't do shit with them.

And why not?? Is it too much for me to ask our NFL team to have a great QB? Why shouldn't the Lions expect someone like Big Ben, Wilson, Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, Brees, etc?? Are those players not allowed to play for or be drafted by the Detroit Lions? Why can't I expect Matt Stafford to be elite?

Those are the sounds of a fan base that are happy with what they have in Stafford. And that's too bad.

And how fun would it be to be a Chargers or Miami fan right now, a couple of franchises equally as shitty as the Lions? You got two franchise QBs, one of which is putting up great rookie numbers with NO RUNNING GAME (!!!)

Meanwhile, we are stuck with an almost 33 year old whose body is breaking down and hasn't done dick here.

asfy.

Detroit moved up 4 sports to 7th after their close loss to Tampa Bay.

And Miami did it right. They were 7-9 the year before they decided to re-build. The Lions see 7-9 as "we are so close to the playoffs, we just need a few pieces" They saw that they needed to re-build so they traded away any assets they had and started from scratch.

Now, only one down season and they are already a 10 or 11 win team. They also still have some great draft picks from their talent dump. They currently own Houston's 1st and 2nd round picks in this upcoming draft along with their own. Houston currently sits at #3.

#3
#24
#35
#56

Anybody here think they take a CB at #3? :lmao:

#3 Stud LT
#24 WR or OL
#35 WR or OL

Lions team rankings

Offense
points per game 24th
yards per game 20th

Defense
points per game 32nd
yards per game 31st

Point differential 29th

Basically, they are the 3rd worst team in the NFL behind only the Jets and Jags. They should be picking 3rd but will likely pick 7th.

I’m disappointed they didn’t lose by more than 46 Saturday and raise their biggest blowout loss bar

Would be fun if they fired one coach every week. This week should be prince... he proved he sucks as a coach.
