Game 16: Packers @ Lions Thread and end of season grades, reviews, etc.

Just like 2018 :lmao:

Bears offense and defense was better in 2018 than 2019. Penalty by Bears not called on the pick too. Injuries for the second Bears game as well but Bears got the pick 6 with Eddie Jackson on a Cooter route and terrible play by the TE.

at Bears 2018 was worst defensive performance by the Lions. Stafford got them back in it late and Marvin tripped on a pick.

Stafford was even more elite in 2019 as well with Bevell over Cooter as OC.

So yes Lions with Stafford would have swept the Bears in 2019. We almost beat them with Driskel and Blough.

I like the matchup in the Lions favor for 2020. Week 1 we'll find it quickly

3-4-1 with Staff. One CB gain, 2 gone. The rest, who knows.

6-2 with Stafford and proper reffing (Chiefs/at Packers) and no time out called in Week 1 by Bevell win Stafford sealed the game to Jesse James.

reality 3-4-1

LKP's alternate universe 6-2

Everyone saw the refs make mistakes in those 2 games. at Green Bay the announcers were pointing it out.

But doesn't matter. Even 3-4-1 in 2019 or 3-12-1 doesn't mean we can't go 12-4 this year. See San Fran as proof with Martin Mayhew as assistant GM and Laken Tomlinson at guard

Flowers great, Collins great, Hand good, Trufant good, Okudah should be good early, Walker good, Coleman good, Harmon good, Shelton solid, Nick Williams solid, Okwara solid, new Okwara wild card, Tavai solid. Davis inconsistent but they can use him properly now. Jones/Ragland nice depth, Oruwariye nice depth, Will Harris meh but depth now and can grow in year 2. Austin Bryant wild card. New DC. Can blitz now with more reliable coverage. Alot to like here on defense. Forget 2019 it's a very different setup. 3 new good secondary players, three new DTs really, one new LB, and another new edge in Okwara. And really Bryant is pretty new as well (limited last year with injury).

Bevell year 2. Stafford elite. KJ good and now has insurance behind him, Swift should be good, KG great, Marvin Jones good, Amendola solid, Hock should be good, Jesse James can't get worse. Ty and Huntley speed, Bo solid

Decker good, Ragnow great, Vaitai good run blocker, average pass pro but could be good, Dahl solid in 2019, nice new guards in Jackson and Stenberg, Wiggins depth, Abouishi/Benschawel depth, Crosby solid experienced depth

New ST coordinator and added coverage. Possible new returner but I like Agnew, he is good other than early fumbles last year. New punter. Prater and Mulhbach both good.

Offense top 5, defense top 15, ST top 10. Dare I say holeless again.

49ers have a very odd team. They rely on a dominant defense and a running game. I don't think there is a single player on the Lions D that would have started on the 49ers D last year.

Harmon over Ward, Walker over Tart, Trufant over Sherman (overrated), Okudah over Witherspoon, Flowers over Armstead but Bosa is a beast over Flowers, Shelton over their nose tackle. Hand is good (see 2018) but Buckner was better for sure. Coleman over Dontae Johnson or always injured Verrett at nickel.

Collins is better than any 49ers LB. Davis/Tavai/Jones would all be backups though.

Lots of Lions starters over the 49ers starters on defense. Run very different types of defenses too. 49ers true 4-3

San Fran split with Seattle, lost to Falcons, gave up 46 to Saints but won somehow, Rams and Cards had troubles. Panthers awful and Bucs turnovers with Winston. AFC North was garbage and other than Bal and SF lost to Ravens. SF can run and GB achilles heal is run D. Gave Chiefs run for their money until Maholmes did crazy things (Lions did this same exact thing and the game was closer).

We'll see if San Fran can repeat after losing Buckner/Breida/Sanders. They were pretty healthy too. Rams and Cards should be better, Seattle split again probably. However, AFC East and NFC East should be easy for them unless Dallas or Philly or Buffalo surprise them. at Saints and Green Bay are tough 1st place games.
