Tigers 2021-2022 Free Agents Trades Rule 5 Arbitration Moves

C Grayson Greiner has cleared waivers and has elected free agency.
The Tigers 40-man roster is now at 38.

Chris Illitch has always made promises he?s never had to keep them.. your ball Chris.. your father would have had somebody signed this morning.

Do I think there?s a 50% chance Ilitch was lying and exaggerating well look at how many parking lots are where building are supposed to be.. look how long Avila has been employed .. honoring promises not a Chris Ilitch specialty.

Steve Cohen is out here signing studs while Chris Ilitch is coming in to eat his peanut butter and jelly (that somebody else made for him) after playing in a snow fort (that someone else made for him).

Tigers not expected to tender a contract to Matthew Boyd, seven-year vet, two-time Opening Day starter will enter free agency.

Several factors ? injury first and foremost ? converged to lead to Matthew Boyd likely being non-tendered.
Still reason to believe he has a strong future as an MLB pitcher. But things change fast in this league, and his contract no longer quite fit in the Tigers' plans.

my guess..DET offered Boyd a reduced deal..withincentives..Boyd declined an now can seek a team and deal he likes..nobody is paying more than 3M plus incentives..he isn't very good (no mystery) and he is injured and likely out till July 15th

DET had by far the most pourous up the middle defense CF/SS/2B by metric in baseball..I'm curious how they plan to fix it..would be a shame to have good SP..and nobody to catch the baseball..

I promise Robbie Ray is an Avila idea..and at the press conference he would tell an old Al story about how he pleaded with Dombrowski not to deal him to AZ..

The Tigers have announced that catcher Grayson Greiner has cleared waivers and is now a free agent. That move was made in advance of the non-tender deadline. The Tigers 40-man roster is currently at 38.

The opening salvo before tomorrow's deadline..... Also expect Matthew Boyd to be non-tendered. Probably some others, too.

Former Detroit Tigers are in the process of raking in the big bucks with other teams. First, Justin Verlander getting $25 mill/year for not having pitched since 2019. Nick Castellanos, with agent Scott Boras, looking for a 7-8 year contract. And then there's...

Max Scherzer about to sign w/Mets for record-breaking $40 mill/year - $120 mill/3 yrs. Don't forget, the Nationals are still paying Max deferred salary through 2028 - another 7 years!

Star shortstop Corey Seager and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a 10-year, $325 million deal, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN.

Carlos Correa's market outlook is even brighter now than it was this morning. Why? One team -- the Rangers -- signed two star shortstops, leaving the remaining suitors (Tigers, Yankees, Astros, et al.) with a smaller group for which to compete.

In a span of about 24 hours, the Texas Rangers have committed half a billion dollars to sign Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. Just like that, they?ve got the best middle infield in baseball as they start their rebuild.

I don't want any of those fkn guys. The Tigers continue to spend 340m for a guy prevents us getting some BP help, another SP that Avila says we need etc.. Because they won't continue to spend. Though if they insist doing it Correa is much better option than the others. I hate poor plate discipline.

Then baseball isn't for you. Because that is the way it's trending. Driving the ball over making contact. Todays coaches are stressing OPS......and its WAY cooler to raise your OPS .100 pts by hitting more homers.....not drawing 50 more walks.

Ozzie Smith would be a utility infielder today. Probably out of the league by 26. Replaced by a guy who was 6'2", 210 lbs that hits .240 with 30 home run potential, plays 118 games a year because of "muscle strains" and thinks a backhand stop is what your girl gets when she disagrees!

I didn't say you can't hit home runs I'm taking about ex. Baez where he walks 28 times and k's 184. His '21 numbers. Hitting 31 home runs doesn't change the fact he leaves many on base because he can't hit the ball a whole lot. Not the player I want many disagree but I hope for a more complete player when getting paid like that. And if we get Baez you'll think the same when he leaves men at 3rd with less than 2 outs. Just because he can play short.
