Lions sign NT Damon Harrison to a 1 year extension with $12M guaranteed Now cut

Staffords so elite he couldnt win the division with the #2 defense in the NFL.
Hand is so elite he fell to the 4th round and spent all of last year with an overbite.
Collins just does the same thing as Kennard but hes older.

I dont think Tua is the best thing since sliced bread by any means. And i think their plan A is to trade down and select defense. But if they are stuck at 3 cause Quin sucks so bad then i wouldnt put it past them to pick Bevells next Russell Wilson. I dont see paying Stafford $35+ mil a year as something they will want to do....perenial losers shouldnt ever sniff that kind of money.

Defense didn't play well enough against Packers in Week 17. Stafford did enough to win the division.
Hand played very well in pass rush and run D his rookie. Why would you ignore that

Collins rushes better than Kennard. And Collins can actually play run and cover better as well. Can move the LBs all around now.

Stafford is worth the money and another extension on the final year of the deal is the best bet. But if you actually did some research and looked at his contract

21.3 million cap hit in 2020, 31 million in 2021 then down to 26 million in 2022. He doesn't sniff 35 million cap hit.

Stafford - He failed....over and over again.

Hands rookie year - Why do i ignore that?...cause it was 2 years ago and he only had 3 sacks...whippidy doo.

Collins rushes better than Kennard - 7 sacks, 4 sacks, 1 sack are his last 3 years. Not sure what world you live in where that is better than Kennard.

Stafford contract - i wasnt talking about his current deal...i was talking about his next deal in a new CBA era. Couple mil for a rookie qb for 4 years vs 35 mil for a guy thats never won anything in over a decade.

You can do a lot by creating space and Trading Matt. Regardless, can't be any worse than they are now. Sometimes you have to make changes to change the narrative.

Lol clearly more than just sacks. Overall pressure and win rate percentage. Hand was injured last year. Bad luck. Collins rushes better, plays run d better and covers. Upgrade all around. Allows Davis a good bltizer to rush more too

Stafford didnt fail. The team did due to refs and injuries. That lions d got 30 dropped on them in thwt week 17 game by the way for the 2014 nfc north champ game. Stafford tossed 3 tds with no picks

the team fails because they suck

They made the playoffs several years and had slew of injuries and bad reffing ripping away the playoffs most other years. Last year for instance, real 6-2 start if not for refs then Stafford hurt the final 8 games. 3-12-1 could have been 10-6 or better.

3 playoff teams in the last 20 years. That's a clip of 15%. Wouldn't call that several. You can blame whatever you want. Fact is, you're always in love with the roster and they rarely perform up to your prediction.

Oh they stunk in Millen era and 2009/2010. I dont deny that

2011 on good to great teams and teams that got screwed by injuries and refs

1 playoff win in 6+ decades

Good teams in 90s. 6 playoffs in 10 years but didnt have a good qb
Stunk in most of 70s and 80s other than Billly Sims years

Dosnt change fact 2011 on have been good teams getting screwed over

we can go with more recent history.

114 wins and 205 losses in the past 2 decades.

They are the worst franchise in the Super Bowl era

Millen era bro. The last decade was good but they got screwed over and injured. The ref screw jobs is probably because they stunk in Millen era and 80s and 70s so fans were used to losing so they made sure the other teams had an advantage.'

You can make a case for 10-6 or better every year since 2011 if not for refs and a few key injuries.

you can't blame refs and injuries when looking at 160 games. Every team has injuries and every team deals with poor officiating. Over a 160 game sample size, those things are going to balance out.

72-87-1 over the last 10 years. A losing record for a loser team.

That record is better than I thought it would be.

Laughable in this day and age how we miss with EVERY coaching and GM hire. You would think by sheer luck one of them would be good......but no.

Had some high end talent in Ford Field......but way too many mediocre players playing important roles.

At least the Lions and Cleveland had the 1950’s. Rams were pretty good at the start of the decade.

NFL championship games

1950 Browns 30 Rams 28.
Rams beat the Bears in a playoff the week before 24-14.

1951 Cleveland 24 Rams 17.

1952 Detroit 17 Cleveland 7.
Lions beat Rams 31-21 in the playoff week before.

1953 Detroit 17 Cleveland 16.

1954 Cleveland 56 Detroit 10.

1955 Cleveland 38 LA Rams 10.

1956 NY Giants 47 Bears 7.
Bears were 9-2-1. Lions were 9-3 in western division. They played on last game of the season in Chicago. The lions had crushed the Bears 42-10 Detroit two weeks before. The lions crushed Pittsburgh the week before 45-7. The Bears struggled with cross town rivals a Halas’ Wrigley field playpen 10-3 in which 2 TD runs of 65 and 63 yards by Cardinals Ollie Matson were nullified by dubious penalties. Cardinal player after the game said
“Detroit better bring Pistols or they will get Gypped.”
The Cardinals checked the film after the game and said there were 23 flaws that went in favor of Halas Bears. We all know what happened. On a running play Layne was blindsided and knocked completely out. Didn’t wake up until the second half. It was a cheap shot by Bears Ed Meadows. Who was later kicked our for kicking Lou Creekmur.
Lions lost 38-21 because Layne was knocked out.

1957 Detroit 59 Cleveland 14.
Detroit comeback playoff win against SF
31-27.

1958 Baltimore 23 NY Giants 17 ot
Giants beat Cleveland in playoff 10-0 week
Before.

1959
Baltimore 31 NY Giants 16.

One day I would love the Lions do have a decade like the 1950’s again.
