Verlander Triple Crown Watch

I think that would be more of an issue if JV wasn't already in the MVP discussion before the surge. His name was already out there as the guy who held this team together, and now because of that the team has a holy shit whoa chance to touch the yankees' record.

Had this surge happened earlier, it would have been easier to say that the team could win without him. People can't go back on that story now.

he has the Cy Young locked up, one more good outing and he'll have the ERA. locked up.only thing that might be a concern is the strikeouts,I just hope he doesn't change his game and try to over throw to win it, and end up just being a thrower to end the season.

Weaver-2.41 (up 0.01)
Beckett-2.50

Ks:

This looks almost locked up. No one will match him in wins. CC will have to have 2 big strikeout games and JV a very low game to lose the K title. JV will have to get thoroughly destroyed to lose the ERA title while Weaver would need to be Mr. Shutout....and get enough innings in...

Yeah I think the only concern is the fact that JV has 1 start left while CC and Weaver probably have 2.. Weaver's last start was on 3 day rest mind you... This means they have more time to catch up to JV..

He's got the wins all locked up. Strikeouts are probably a lock as well assuming CC does not go off. ERA is probably his as long as Weaver does not go 18 scoreless innings and JV has a meltdown.

Whip is a good stat but its the triple crown, not the quadruple crown :) . K to BB to me isn't that important. Some guys are really good with their walk rate but don't strikeout many.

Get a win next time out and I hope for at least 6 K's, 250 would be pretty cool.

Hell, I want 10 strikeouts...

Kershaw might top him on that one... I know it has NO impact on AL Cy Young. MVP maybe.

I just looked up the single season strike out record, and that is one record that will never be broken. Matt Kilroy in 1886 had 513 k's in 583 ip!!! Looking at the list though made me remember just how f'ing good Randy Johnson was. 6 seasons with 300+ k's!
