Offseason Deals and Rumors

Makes more sense to trade Price than Sanchez but I agree with you. We can get a young controllable arm for Price like a Shelby Miller and sign somone like Brandon McCarthy for 2/3 what it will cost for price. Kinsler may be a little harder too move, Braves may be an option.

The Braves like LaStella for 2nd base. Kinsler would probably be a fit for very few teams. Possibly the Nats if they don't re-sign Asdrubal.

I agree. Let's trade with the Marlins. Maybe we can work out that Stanton trade.
That's just not gonna happen. I do think they will finally break down and trade him. But Detroit has nothing to offer them

That is probably what the Nats said before they sent us Robby Ray and a box of balls for Fister.

Not to mention Stanton will get a ridiculous contract that will be around at least 250 million soon as he is traded

Detroit's cupboard is bare. If we make any trades, we'll get someone like Cameron Maybin. I would not be surprised to see him acquired.

Granderson is a shell of him former self. You don't want a bad defender, that hits .240 and ks 160 times per year for 3yrs at 15mil

Batting average is irrelevant. So are his strikeouts. He was 4th among all NL outfielders in Walks and 16th in OBP. His Slg. was a bit off this year but if that returned to normal, he's right around an .800 OPS hitter. BA. and K's be damned.

Plus he is left handed, with decent power. I also don't know that I would call him a "bad defender".

Yes, his pricetag is a little steep, but so was Torii's.

I would not mind having Granderson one bit, depending on what it took to get him.

There are a lot of holes. 2 OF's, DH if Victor leaves, SP, at least 3 BP arms, and a respectable bench. All of that with not much payroll flexibility

Add catcher should AA retire. Let see that adds up to 12 players that need resigned, upgraded, replaced. That like 12/25th, and like some of these holes are large ones.

Can't Don Kelly fill all those holes? The ultimate utility guy!! lol

I sleep fine at night. Some people continue to complain about the manager. Some people continue to argue that Kinsler is over rated. I happen to think that those two signings are main reasons that will bring this team to mediocrity. So yes, I will continue to bring it up if I think it is relevant. I hope I am proven wrong. If so I am sure there will be PLENTY of people here that will throw it in my face...which I am perfectly fine with.

Its just the cost of doing business. Cabrera and Verlander have sold a ton of Jersey's at $20 a pop at Walmart to up to $140 at the stadium. I would not worry about those 2 contracts holding the team down.

Amongst the other crap in this article, DD says Ausmus & Co. will be back...

"It was also made clear Sunday by Dave Dombrowski, the Tigers president and general manager, that Ausmus and his coaching staff will be returning intact for 2015.

"All are under contracts, so we usually do not make any announcements with this type of situation," Dombrowski wrote in a text message to The Detroit News. "However, we do expect the staff to be back next season.""

Very good chance that Victor will be back to finish out his career as a Tiger...

Not to say he won't, but don't put much if any stock in anything that comes from Nick Carfardo.

This is the same guy who insisted his sources said Andrew Miller to Detroit was a "done deal" at the deadline. The guy is just floating rumors to fill his column space.

If I hear the same thing from Matt Mowery or Ken Rosenthal, I'll put a little more stock in it.

I would be surprised if they didn't but you know someone well offer something insane
