I can?t believe they?re signing Javy Baez. I despise this big time. It?s not even that I hated him as a Cub (because I hate the Cubs and because he?s a douche), the guy is the Delmon Young of shortstops. He cannot hit anything off speed, his plate discipline is laughable (particularly on off speed pitches), he strikes out left and right, and he doesn?t draw a walk to save his life.

This doesn?t help my already poor impression of Chris Ilitch or this front office.

Considering the market it's not a bad signing. His glove probably every bit as valuable as his bat Considering how bad they were at SS on D.

Look's like 160m. That less than half of what Seager got no way Seager is twice as good. Outside his 35% k rate last season and the inability to not walk he's a huge improvement on both offence and defense than anyone we've had in such a long time.

Edit: 140m. Even better.

Edit: He has an opt out clause not sure after what year.

Baez is cheaper and doesn?t have the injury concerns of Seager/Correa. I?m OK with the offensive shortcomings if it comes with solid defense, lineup stability, and more money to make other moves.

Good defense and big power at the SS position. I'll take it. Still at decent playing age for most of deal. Not sure what happened in NY but he was actually drawing walks at a much higher rate. Small sample, but still.
