    Ha Ha! Clinton Dix

Yes, it's against the rules, but if it really was just a $500 loan, to me, that seems like an indicator that things aren't that bad there. If a guy needs a $500 loan, he isn't grabbing booster money with every handshake. Of course without some investigating, you don't know if a $500 loan is...

    WWII Memorial Shutdown

OK. Then for the record, I do know that expanding Medicare is a part of Obamacare. Also, Medicare IS a single-payer option (which means Bush passed a $50 B/year expansion of the single-payer option with less complaining.) I think you could do this skit asking people if they prefer a single-payer...

    WWII Memorial Shutdown

Liberals should be just about as unhappy about it as conservatives. Just expanding medicare would have done more per extra dollar sent to insurance companies. But "Rah, rah, rah! My team won! So I'm a big supporter" or "Boo! My team lost!" is all the motivation the loudest voices need.

If there's nobody to vote for, and you didn't pay attention during primaries, does that count for anything?

Vote in primaries. Go ahead and skip the big ones, but right now, we need people sick of polarization to vote in primaries.

    Rhapsody in Maize and Blue

My 1st reaction is that it's a branding abomination and get off my lawn, but the bit from 1:13-1:27 in the youtube video is clever.

Could still make it work if it started at 2:29 and ran with this version (@ 0:51) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XejrStE8z0

    Rhapsody in Maize and Blue

The Gershwin Family is collaborating with Michigan; turning over original notes for academic study. They're calling it the Gershwin Initiative. The music doesn't start until 20 seconds in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0oOPPHJrF8&feature=youtu.be

Right. I misspoke. We're all sick all the time, just not over Woodson's wine promotion problems.

    Panic Button

Regarding statements about them being kids, I think it's fair game to point to their youth to explain knucklehead behavior. It doesn't alleviate them from their adult level of responsibility for their actions, but it's not right to expect the same level of maturity from them as their coaches...

Conferences and atheltes kill EA Sports' NCAA series

There was an interesting implication in the athletes' lawyer's quote, that nobody, including the NCAA, should cash in the commercial value of student-athletes. I don't think many people recognize that as true. There isn't some legal reason behind that statement, is there? It's not true of...
